hell bet its more reliable and has more power.
EDIT: didn't look at the pics of the actual engine...uh yeah 22R is no 6....still probably more reliable than the original engine.
Thats kind of a bummer, as the special part of that car is the motor is just so pretty!
Im not a fan of hers, but it would be like Angelina Jolie with someone elses boobs; Still pretty, but somehow, just not right.
Joey
at least put a datsun 240z engine in with the side draft SU's to make it look more "real"
and there is always extra wire hanging around with these cars, the first thing I would do as a seller is start zip tieing wire up under the dashboard.
22r that is a 4cylinger toyota truck engine.
That is the 2nd one I've seen in an old british car
triumph spitfire @ chas british car show.
Sorry, but this is about as stupid as an EcoTec engine in a Corvette. Use a Toyota inline 6 for crying out loud....or a Datsun Z-car engine.

its a 4 cylinder.. truck engine.. 100 hp on a good day, reliable and sturdy
My truck has that engine. It doesn't really inspire me with its sports car like performance and feel...

yup had one as well. The engine was originally designed for a forklift
Well, the Coventry Climax engine was designed for a portable firepump.
The ad says it's a Toyota 6. I wonder if he's ever counted the plug wires?
That car needs to be more like $5k. I see noting wrong with doing a swap if the original engine is fubar and you cant afford a replacement, but you have to understand the car loses most of its value.

actually considering a complete xk120 will run you around $75-100k+ I would say $30k for one that needs a proper engine is not that much of a stretch.

are you sure about that? nearly every toyota forklift that I've ever serviced has a 4Y. a 22R is like an F1 engine compared to that lump. (ok, reliable lump)
That Jag does need an I6 and a lower price though.
it really needs a Manual trans....what is up w/ a 4 cyl auto swap?
BTW, I kinda want to put a turbo Ecotech engine in a C4 Corvette... i think it would be cool...but it would be a manual.

There was actually a Corvette IMSA GTP in the 80's that had a twin turbo V6 (and a V8). I always wished GM would take the Vette in this direction, the mid engine setup that is.
