Yeah, I'm feeling better. This was actually not a bad bout with "The Chitis". Eek, that sounds like something very unpleasant that happens to your wiggly bits. Anyway, I only had three of those bad coughing fits this time, all on Monday. The thing is with these coughing fits, its not like they are a minute long, whooping cough like fits. Just 4-6 really hard coughs. I'll go to a doc, but I want to find a doc that isn't looking to treat the cough per se, but the horrendous coughs that will one day kill me. Especially if it happens while I'm driving.

Hope you feel better.

Thanks for posting. Your description "pain at the back of the tongue" struck a nerve. I made a doc apt for Friday because I was ignoring that myself in the last couple days. And that generally isn't a good idea. Now I get to think about it for 36 more hours....

Good luck with the Dr search. I went through that a while back and it was tough. A lot of them want to spend 30 seconds and throw a bottle of pills at you. I finely found a good one, but it took some searching and talking to people.

And THAT is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Keep digging, they are out there. Talk to everyone you know. The doctor you want isn't the one with the big flashy office or the big flashy add in the phone book. He/She will be the one that a friend/family member, tells you about. I actually ended up with my fathers doctor. He's not close to the house, but he's a good guy. The first thing he did was cut all my BP meds in half. It did wonders.

Its not just doctors that want to throw something after spending 30 seconds with you.

Can't believe no one posted that pic yet.
I've had some coughing fits that send shocks up my back. Freaks me out. Makes me feel like I may seize. Not cool. I've had lots of conversations about certain specialists. I'm always amazed how bad some "specialists" are. It can take some time to find a good one. Maybe find a better doc.
Hope things get better soon.

had that happen to me one time while driving … never totally blacked out, but my vision squeezed down to pinpoints, and I felt myself falling sideways against the seat belt…. about that time I stopped coughing long enough to actually take a breath, and everything returned to normal

that was also the last cold I've ever had .. about 3 yrs ago … not looking forward to having another go round

If the issue is caused by scar tissue in your lungs, how can they fix that?

The annual visits from the pneumonia fairy are a result of the scar tissue. I have no idea what causes the death cough.
