For those who are worried about how scary it is, I am terrible with horror films and never had an issue with this show being scary. Definitely get everyone you know to have a go at watching it.

Bank on it. A bullet to the head would've been kinder as well as resolving any future issues. btw - He refurb'ed that Hyundai because it's a tough truck. Don't you know that?

I think that a lot, like: Why have they not sat down as a group and come up with emergency preparedness plans for common situations? They should all be well aware of what their role is in the event of a zombie horde or when coming to a roadblock where there is the opportunity for supplies.

Why are they all wandering off to hunt down zombies armed only with guns that they are afraid to use? Why don't they all carry a baseball bat, claw hammer, axe, machete, crowbar, etc. with them wherever they go? Have they seriously not found a hardware store, outdoor supply, hunting/fishing shop, or K-Mart where they can scrounge all the useful weapons/tools they could possibly need?

When there is a ready supply of abandoned vehicles, why do they bother fixing crappy ones rather than just taking convenient vehicles that they find? Like, that water truck. "It's full of water. Too bad we don't have room to carry all that water around." Just take the frickin' water truck, drive it until you've used up all the water, then ditch it.

In the first season, could they have picked a worse place to camp? Out in the woods where they can be approached from any direction, and there is thick tree cover to hide the approach of zombies until the get into camp. Then because everyone needs privacy or something, they spread out the tents so that they can't even watch each others' backs. Why not set up camp in the quarry where there were limited lines of approach? Block off the path with a couple trucks or debris or something, and you only need to watch one direction and can funnel zombies into an easy kill zone. Force the zombies into a single-file line, and three guys with melee weapons could hold off a horde easily. Take a bit of time and set up a rope ladder going up to the cliffs above as an emergency escape if you're worried about being overrun.

I highly recommend the comic books. Far superior to the TV series ( but isn't that always the case?)

Must say that the series had a very promising first few episodes, and then took a nose dive for me. Zombie makeup us really good and well shot.

I woke the baby up whisper-shouting "They're seriously just going to leave the em-effin buick roadmaster sitting there!? Seriously!!!???"

Had fun talking to friends while the show was on. An astute former GRM employee had an interesting theory on what the doctor whispered to rick(?)

SPOILER IN NEXT POST???

As a horror fan I absolutely love this show. If you can watch something without over-analyzing all the details you will like this. It is a much needed break from all the other network garbage lately.

I was wondering the same thing until the next commercial break. Hyundai is a primary advertiser for the show. So even after the world ends product placement will live on.

Sort of like one of the "24" seasons where the Presidents Chief of Staff was driving his Huyndai around...

The commercial breaks were so long, and so frequent, that I almost considered turning the TV off and downloading it after it was over so I could watch it uninterrupted. Oh, and in the scene where they cut the zombie's stomach open (which went on WAY too long), the guy cut into the zombie, then raised the knife to stab back down into it, and the knife was clean. Whoops. Also, there was one scene in the woods where it totally looked like someone was in the background, but nothing ever came of it. I don't know of that was a mistake or not, but Colleen and I both saw it.

                            ^THIS^

I can't enjoy the show because the survivors are SO FREAKING INEPT.

Why the hell would anyone go anywhere unarmed, and alone, when you are only one zombie-nibble from oblivion.

^^^^^^ I agree, The incompetence of the survivors kills me. Unfortunately, I think it is a necessary part of the stories since the zombies are just too easy to kill / ward off. Any half competent branch of the armed forces ought to be able to wipe out vast hordes of them without any real problem.

And there will be a lot more survivors than what is depicted in these films, in fact if society broke down the other bands of the survivors would likely become the major threat, since there would likely be intense competition for resources.

I have watched the first episode of the walking dead, I was not really impressed. Especially with the fully loaded machine guns sitting abandoned at the military positions in Atlanta.

Also, How many zombies do you think you could take out with a single army tank?

All of them. As long as you still had fuel.

I watched Skyline last night. The survivors were so dumb i wanted to throw things at the TV. Utterly BIZARRE movie, though. I liked it.

Holy crap... it's a show ABOUT ZOMBIES. It's not real. Some people just can't enjoy good stuff without tearing it apart for everyone else. It's TV, not the internet. It's NOT REAL!

In reply to Bobzilla:

In order for me to enjoy the show it needs to be "real enough" so I can temporarily suspend my disbelief. When everyone runs around like a bunch of brainless shiny happy people I cannot suspend my disbelief and settle down to enjoy the show. Watching a show like that is about as pleasant as listening to nails on a chalk board.

My favorite part of last episode was when Boondock Saints guy scores a great zombie head shot and the screen went black into "Brought to you by Hyundai". Of all the companies I would think of to bring me head shots, Hyundai is nowhere on the list. The other great product placement was the sheath of Gerber machete's the kid rolls out, with the name clearly framed up. Now there is a perfect market segment to be working.
