I tend to stick with goggles over my glasses because I’ve had too many incidents where stuff bounces around and gets behind my lenses. However, there been at least once where something managed to get in around the goggles, thankfully I was able to wash it out in the sink.
I try to always have something. Even sunglasses when I’m out raking the lawn, I figure they will stop a stick thrown at me by one of our ridiculously cute, but incredibly mean red squirrels.
What are cyberpunk light glasses? Are they for canoeing?
But since this got bumped, I suggest buying safety glasses in bulk and simply filling your shop with them. These 3M glasses are less than $2 each. I tend to forget I have them on. They're in my truck, they're on my workbench, they're stacked by my belt sander...

I'm the safety guy at work, and it's a struggle to keep glasses on faces. Apparently foreheads need more protection than eyes. But every now and then, I've run into coworkers after work, at a grocery store or gas station, still wearing the safety glasses.
It's the little things in life ...
I hate to admit it but I have shot myself in the eye with the chlorinated brake cleaner. It hurt like a mofo.
I watched a guy open up a brew kettle and get a face full of boiling hot foam. He got first degree burns on his eyeballs.
I seem to always be getting ceiling tile dust in my eyes at work. Worst thing I've gotten in my eyes is gasoline. Was filling a tank in my truck bed and it splashed back into my eye. Burned so bad but I flushed it out really good.
Crazy Train you say? The one where Ozzy says I.. I.. EYE EYE?
Battery acid is the worst I've had in the eye before. I think I was 16 at the time so safety glasses weren't really a thing.
I wear prescription glasses now. I order all of them with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses.
I now buy the tinted safety glasses from Amazon as sunglasses. Im more likely to have a pair of them handy that way no matter what. Trying to get better about protecting my eyes.

My glasses are Trivex (similar to poly - more expensive, but lighter and better optics). Both glasses, and prescription sunglasses.
With masks though, I'm wearing contacts a lot more. I should follow the Keith protocol on this and order a box.

At least my pain is recognized as a standard.
I've always had a squinty disposition when it comes to my eyelids. I have been working in some sort of automotive or manufacturing facility since 1986. For many years I did not wear eye protection. The one, possibly the FIRST time I did I took a lug nut to the lens off a fast moving air gun. I stopped, tapped the lens of the glasses and realized that I am the luckiest sumbit in the world. Pretty much a part of my life now.
Had an incident the other day where I was changing out a bicycle cable, rolling up a used one and the a bare cable with a sharp end whipped around and smacked me just under my eye. Not the type of situation you'd normally think of requiring safety glasses, but maybe you should...
Been to emergency at least five times over the years to have steel dug out of my eyes. The last couple times were despite wearing safety glasses, and the very last time required two trips to emergency and then to a specialist to get it all out. It left a crater in my eye and I lost a lot of vision for two months. I hope I learned after that one and I am rarely in the shop without decent eye protection. Now I wear the glasses with the foam around the lens that seal to your face. They are very well built and don't fog up too bad thanks to the seal.
I used to do the "litter safety glasses everywhere" thing, but I found it had a flaw: It encouraged only putting them on when you might need them, because they kind of suck and it's easy to find another pair nearby at any time. But I've gotten hit in the face a bunch by stuff during times I didn't think I needed any safety glasses.
So I finally caved and bought some nice safety glasses. I popped the lenses out of an old pair of Oakley Flakjacket sunglasses, then bought a pair of impact-rated clear replacement lenses for them. They fit me way, way better, and the optical quality is a huge step up from the Harbor Freight $2 glasses. Now I tend to put them on when I walk in the door and forget they're there. And there aren't gaps around my eyes on either side.
I'll admit I'm not perfect, and it's still tough to wear glasses with a mask when we are filming, but moving from $2 safety glasses to $200 safety glasses means I spend way, way, way more of my time in the garage with my eyes protected.
3M face shield for me.
My BiL has safety glasses with trifocals: at the bottom, the usual up-close magnification. At the top, the same thing - allows you to be under a car, looking up. I haven't tried them but he swears by them.
Water soluble cutting oil can cause a staph infection in your eye. Ask me how I know.
I wear the reader 2.0 safety glasses from Grainger. Forget who makes them. I am pretty good with having them on when I am doing stuff in the garage.
I few years back when my daughters were still home and had hair like the mane of a horse. Every month or two the drain in the shower would drain slower than it should. They sell these barbed plastic deals at HD to snag the hair out but a cut coat hanger wire with a hook bent in the end works almost as good. I cut the hanger and took the needle nose to the end to bend the hook into it. A fleck of paint went in my eye and wasn't coming out. Off to the eye Dr. (husband/wife doctors who are friends).
In reply to Kenysouth :
U think thatz bad, u should try paddling a canoe with no safe tea classes on. Lotto bugs, flies, etc out on the lake. Canoes shed come manual with special canoe eye protection.

You obviously paddle much faster than I do :)

Is it my eyes or is the 1st post unreadable?
always wear your eye protection.
First, I gotta say that this is the funniest thread I've read in a long while. Starting with OP "probably hoping I was mute, too"
I've twice had metal flakes pulled out of my eyeball. The first time it was crazy, it felt like it was in the back side of my eye. I kept flushing it over and over. I thought I might get used to the pain until I tried to go to sleep and it just started messing with me hardcore. I got up, stared at my eye in the mirror and saw the tiniest little flake there up front. In desperation I rummaged through the garage and found old subwoofers and held the magnets up to my eye, praying for relief. But none came until the optometrist dug it out.
Second time I was wearing safety goggles and the rust slipped in around the edges.
Ive gotten careless though. Thanks for the reminders but with fogging making the eye protection useless, I'm not really sure the alternative. Maybe a shield like was suggested?

Piece of brass swarf came off the lathe. Hit my cheek, hit the inside of my glasses, right into my eye.
