It's been three weeks folks. Have you not imbibed any alcoholic beverage on a Friday evening since then?

Our financial advisor presented us with a bottle of "Acumen" Cabernet Sauvignon a few months ago when Annie retired. So we popped the cork tonight (but after I'd had a couple Beefeater Martinis and a few glasses of Merlot at our local pub). The Acumen cab was quite nice. So we are sipping that now. I say Happy New Year to all!
I went looking for this thread last night after a few to many.... Probably for the best that I didn't find it.
I expect this thread to be busy tonight
Me? I'm shooting tequila with my 65 year old dad. He's a bad influence
Having a great local brew sitting here with the family. First time having my boy stay up with us for new year which he is really psyched about.
Enjoying some slightly past it's best by date Flying Dog single hop series Nugget imperial IPA. Really makes me wonder how they've sat here since September, they're absolutely delicious. 8% doesn't hurt either
I have a terrible cold so I sipped on some small batch Nyquil of 2015 vintage and went to bed early.
My oldest just called to say he needs a ride home. Fuuuuuck. I'm so toasty and snug.
We had two parties to attend today. The first started at 2pm and the second is from 7pm 'til whenever. Unfortunately, my wife just had rotator cuff surgery and can't drive, so I'm designated driver.
We decided to have a tasting to see what is better. American Honey or Tennessee Honey.
I actually like the American Honey. But both will get you toasted.
Friday afternoon and I'm enjoying a Narragansett Lovecraft black lager 16 oz. tall boy.
It's a great winter brew with 7.5% ABV . Happy weekend folks.
Going to a bar for wife's work holiday party (just winter party at this point?)
It's also my wife's birthday so I'll probably only have a drink or two, and let her enjoy the evening with more
This is one of my favorite threads, started by bravenrace (and where the hell has he been lately?) Anyway, it's Friday evening and I'm certain that everybody has some type of plan for the evening involving alcohol. Me? Well, Annie and I started at a late lunch at the Coast Guard House in Narragansett, RI link with Sauvignon Blanc. Not my usual Beefeater martini when I go there. But, hey, fun anyway. We're now home, and prepared with an additional bottle of Sau' Blanc. What're your Friday evening plans?
In reply to Gary:
Here I am! I really need something hard tonight after the workout I got on one of my other posts! Just drinking a cheap beer right now, since I'm now unemployed, but will probably dip into the jack daniels select a little later on. Have a good weekend, guys. :)
In reply to bravenrace:
I am very, very sorry to hear of your employment status. I hope you're able to turn that around quickly. I will definitely have a drink to you tonight, wishing for good fortune. Good luck. (BTW, I missed the other thread, but most likely I'd be on your side).
In reply to Gary:
Thanks Gary. I'm actually using this unexpected turn of events to take a little time off from working to get caught up on my personal life. I have several job opportunities kind of waiting for me, so I'm not worried. Still, I have to watch what I spend during this time of no paycheck!
Went to a new micro brewery last night. R. Shea Brewery. The beer was pretty good, but the interesting thing is that they don't serve food but you can order it from a nearby deli and they bring it right to your table as though it was made in house. It didn't take long either.
There's a new brewery around the corner from me. They don't have an actual bar but they have a "Tasting Room" that's open on weekends, where they sell pints and growlers. They have a different food truck right outside the door every weekend.
Good luck with the job search.
Went out for a hot dog at the Tavern On the Hill with my 41-year-old son earlier here, and had a couple pints of the local brews on tap there. Now I'm back at the homestead and sipping my way through a bottle of Bordeaux. Annie sipped a glass or two of Sau' Blanc and is on her way upstairs (that would be upstairs in our house, not a metaphor for something else).
The cheap hooch - $18 liter of Evan Williams
Why?
I pulled my new car's 12A apart and the only thing wrong with the engine is the apex seal springs were flat. I need to save money, I gots a baby on the way and it smells like cowbell.
Or something.
I'm currently drinking Bordeaux.
"I can certainly see that you know your wine. Most of the guests who stay here wouldn't know the difference between Bordeaux and Claret."
(John Cleese, aka Basil Fawlty, Fawlty Towers)
I'm also listening to Dave Brubeck. But I guess that belongs in a different thread.

FWIW, if you have access to the Evan Williams 1783 you'll find it's far superior to the regular black label. I'm on glass number three of it this evening and it's a pretty fair replacement to my usual go-to.
Usual go-to rant: W.L.Wellers has become the new hotness everywhere and I can't find it for love or money these days.
So Annie and I are back from our Palm Springs trip. (You can't call it a vacation if you're retired. It's a"trip"). I'm drinking a couple beers from Tilted Barn Brewery (Milo's Phoenix IPA and Peeptoad American Pale Ale ... 16 oz. tall boy cans)
You'll need to log in to post.
