So if, Beth is short for Elizabeth/Elisabeth.
Or maybe Bethany.
Is Seth really Elibaseth?
Sethony?
I have never considered a similarly between Beth and Seth. This shall forever change the KISS song...
Seth I hear you calling
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are playing
And we just can't find the sound
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Seth what can I do
Seth what can I do
Seth is short for Cephalopod.
Though if we take Dick as short for Richard, it really could be damn near anything.
Seth is a traditionally masculine name with roots in Egyptian, Hebrew, and the Bible. It can mean "put," "anointed," "compensation," or "appointed." In the Bible, Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve — a replacement for Abel after his brother Cain killed him.

I just went to Google that. I should have known to be patient, and the answer would arrive here.
Don't remember that from Sunday School...

I am still waiting for Sunday School to explain where the next generation of kids came from seeing the lack of female sprogs from the Adam and Eve gene-pool, or how that could even work genetically if they did. I did ask at the time and that is when I learned that Catholic School was no place for an inquisitive mind.
