I'm finally at point in my life were I can finally devote few grand for "my" car.
Id like to find a fun 4 door that I can enjoy driving and fit the family into, but then I ran across this
https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/austin-1992-nissan-240sx-hatch/7069890621.html
Price is little high imo since it has a cooling issue. But I've owned couple of these in past and it takes a bit to properly bleed the system, I'm hoping this is the issue.
I was suppose to go look at Mazda 5 wagon today but now I'm reluctant.
Buy a nice out dated car and build it the way I wash I could've 10 years ago. Or buy something nicer and newer..
240 with a bad engine. Price is too high.
What are the ages of the small people in "the family"?
It does feel a bit expensive between the unknown cooling issue and the body damage.
I have a van for family hauling. Works great doing van things. I have a 99 escort zx2 that's my DD. Fun car but is an escort..
Problem is I've been wanting another 240 for long time. And because of drift tax these pull a premium. Finding a low mileage unmolested one is damn near impossible. I sold my last one as a shell for $800 10 years ago..
And I wouldn't pay 3500, think at most $2500 tops
I was thinking 2-2.5k if it only had a duff engine, but these are getting more expensive. I think if you want a nice one - even if you dump an SR20 in one - I'd start with one that doesn't need bodywork as well.
I feel like the drift tax has faded somewhat on those. I see them occasionally for normal used car money now.
E39 530i M-sport, stick shift.
If they will come down to a more reasonable price I say get the 240sx. It's a very fun car IMO.
you can get an imported clean auto one for sub $10k now and a SR20de non turbo manual will be sub $12k.
Another 240 popped up on CL for same price with motor "just needs put back together" description
As much as I want RWD think I'm just gonna dump money into Janky my ZX2 and keep having fun with it
