1987 Monte Carlo SS
Pretty sure most of the pin striping was gone the first day he had it - I can't leave anything alone either.
Hasn't bought a new car since, it was a huge lemon. Was at the dealer more often than he got to drive it.
First new car that my father bought that I recall was a 1947 Chrysler Windsor Sedan. Blue in color because my mother never cared what kind of car he had as long as it was blue.
Picture is taken from BAT.. but my Father's first new car looked almost exactly like this car. The difference was.. my father's was bought in europe and was an actual homogulation special.. not just the tape and light version of the rallye.
He brought it to the US in 1970 and spent several years racing it locally on the Pleasantville race track and TSD rallies before selling it in 1980 when my sister came along and we needed car that could handle a family of 4
my dad bought a brown 78 monza new. to go with their 76 formula 400. the only new vehicles since then that he bought new have been a 1983 virago 750 midnight and a 1988 celebrity, also brown.
Part of our family folklore is that my father, upon seeing the new AMC Gremlin, declared "I wouldn't drive that if you gave it to me!"
A couple of years later, with nice incentives, and some competitive price advantage on the posi rear end, he was the proud owner of a wild plum Gremlin. I have a few very early memories of the car, but it was sold when I was quite young.
It's the only new car he ever bought.
1982(?) K wagon. Their ONLY new car. Dad totaled it inside of a month on the move to TN when he fell asleep at the wheel. Nearly killed my mother, she still has a limp 30 years later, and almost killed me, due to delivery complications from injuries from that accident.
First one I know about- 1960 Cornbinder half ton.
First one I remember, and last car before he died. His was a 68, this is a 66- just like the one I owned in 1979.
1st new car I remember was one of these in Khaki green

Dad bought a 1958 Bugeye Sprite in Europe while he was in the Army. Brought it home and drove it another year or so before trading it in on a 1960 Bonneville conv. Talk about a size upgrade. Several others cars passed through his hands before a '70 Camaro RS 4-speed came along. Now he's got a 1966 Chevelle 4 door Hard top 327.
Mom had a nice list too. 1964 Corvair Monza Conv. New and first car. 1966 Coronet 383, and a 69 Mustang fastback 302.
I spoiled the party in 74 and came home in a tan Vega wagon automatic.
