At one time I thought a 3 car trailer full of 50s pickup trucks would be cost effective.

Anything that you plan to keep for a while is what you want to buy.  My southern van has outlasted three cars from michigan, two were newer.   If you buy a nice looking car in michigan that is 5-8 years old you will basically get a few more out of it until it rusts and becomes worthless.   Pick up the same car from down south and you get about ten years out of it until it just starts to rust, then sell and start over.

That's essentially what I did with my 2001 Chevy Astro. It's just starting to show small rust spots, and even then I can repair them rather easily. It'll be around another 5 years if no major mechanical failures occur.

Any W108 W116 6.9 Mercedes. Find a decent $7,000 example in Cali and bring it back to the NE. Not sure I'd sell it though. Probably so triumphs and mg's as well.

Actually, the reverse may be true.

Bring your rusty old piece of crap truck to the South, sell it at a premium, then take something else back North.

You may be on to something. I have a 2500HD with the 6.0. Since I bought it my truck needs have changed and I would prefer to have less truck for a nicer ride and better mileage. I might have to look into this.

Trade you a rust free 2wd ranger. Ill even deliver.
