any hits on this request^^??
My Birthday is right before Christmas, so I'm desperately trying to convince my parents that they should get me a Winch Bumper/Bull bar for my Trooper.

I think you're going to be SOL on the Made in USA part. However, I suggest you call up http://www.rex-supply.com/cgi/CGPTHOME and talk to the sales guy there. We had a nice chat a few weeks ago when I was buying some taps, dies and handle thingies. I asked him if any of the stuff I just bought, like a left hand thread 1/2x20 tap, was available from the US. He said that there was one company left in the US that still made taps, but they cost about 4 times what everything else was. I asked him if I would be able to tap 4 times the stainless steel with one before it snapped in half and the answer was no. Everything else was not available from a US company. He has been working there since the late 70's, so he knew the business pretty well. Rex Supply is also a good place to get general machine tool stuff from, if you need it. Industrial quality stuff, not HF quality stuff, and their prices are pretty good, too.
He also, incidentally, recently bought a VW TDI and is amazed at the quality and economy of the thing, after owning American iron for decades. He gave up.
Thanks Hess, I will call em. But Im surprised - you can find industrial cutting tools (I.e. Lathe cutting bits and the like) all over, but no taps/dies? That sucks.
HERE IS A GOOD PLACE I just found that also has a good selection, and I just spoke with a sales person who was really great and seemed interested in helping. They are also very local to me, so thats a plus.

But you can weld, so maybe you'll get some sheet steel and a couple lengths of tubing? Net effect is the same.
I already sent her a list of the different lengths, thicknesses, and types of steel I needed if she wasn't willing to spring for the pre-made bumper.
