Far be it from me to try to influence your dining destination, but I will offer that the Stepford Wives that work at all the Chick-fil-As are incredibly motivated and efficient.  You will find that those long lines move very quickly.

I thought there was a Guthrie’s in Gainesville, Florida, but I don’t see it listed online. Looks like Tampa is now our closest one.

There used to be one.  It went away at least 10 years ago.  I freakin loved that place!

It may be that you are confusing motivation, competence, and dedication with mindless conformity.  I would argue that nothing could be further from the truth.  The mindless conformity resides in the staff at all those fast-food joints that offer long waits and lousy service.

Just reading this thread realizing there is a dearth of chicken chains in the PNW.  Even in an area with half a million people and a busy university.

I'd have to drive 60 minutes to even get to the nearest Popeyes. I have heard a Chick-fil-a is opening in the next town but I will likely never try it. 

The local hotspots are all food carts and it being December in the Willamette valley I don't really want to stand around in 38 degree rain.

but now I really want a chicken sandwich dangit!

It was a loss when Chick-Fil-A dropped the spicy strips, at least around here.  They were good.

Guthrie's is, traditionally, in college towns.  Additionally the founders of Raising Cane's and Zaxby's both worked at a Guthrie's in college

I had heard that Zaxby’s stemmed from Guthrie’s but didn’t know about the Raising Cane connection. We just got one here in Daytona. Worth the stop?

To be fair the closest one is 40 minutes away, the one I referenced above had apparently just opened the week before and the line of cars trying to get into the parking lot was seriously messing up traffic.  I'll give it a shot if I'm nearby one at lunchtime.

I don't really get the Chick-Fil-A hate, but whatever.  I take my granddaughter there for our Friday date night because it's her favorite.  It is nice not having a worker grunt at me when they hand me my food.  

When Covid hit, CFA developed a drive thru system that was the bomb.  It worked so well they were approached by other companies (not all food) to help them.

Buccees makes a pretty solid chicken sandwich that comes with plenty of sauce pre-applied. It gets more and more expensive every time I stop at a Buccees though.

Personally I find Dave's hot Chicken to be 'meh' at best.  Once you've had Prince's or Hattie B's, it just ruins all Nashville hot that isn't actually in Nashville... 

Also that Katsu chicken with mac salad sounds so damn good I might have to try and recreate it. 

Chicken belongs on the bone, not a bun. 

That said if the sandwich is made with breast meat it's frequently dry and flavorless unless they dump hot sauce on it. 

Chick-fil-A is borderline at best.  Zaxbeys and Huey Magoo's are both bad. Wendy's is OK but I'd rather have their burger. If I'm at a chicken joint like Bojangles or Churches, I'm ordering fried chicken. 

A chicken thigh sandwich can be decent. You have to hunt for them though. There aren't many restaurants that serve them. The last one I had was from a food truck and it was fair. 

I don't personally eat at Chic Fil A for reasons, but I never found their chicken to be anything special.

Popeyes is pretty good, but a little salty for my taste

Bojangles tastes great, but I can't get over the processed texture of the meat.  It's more like a big chicken nugget.

Wendy's Chicken Bacon Ranch is hard to beat.  So is their Asiago.

I’ve also heard people rave about the sauce. I think it’s funny that ours just opened across the street from CFA. It’s like the Chicken District.
