yeah, we probably agree.

I said the regulations are inconsistent, and individuals are left having to interpret them.
It's unreasonable for individuals to get upset with other individuals who are abiding by the laws and regulations. It gets people pissed off.
Consistent regulations lead to uniform actions by individuals.
Thank you for clarifying. I was stuck on this:
SVreX (Forum Supporter) said:
Why don't we have uniformity in regulations? Well, I don't know. But I suspect it's because the data available to the highest level leaders is NOT clear. They are guessing.
The data is pretty clear at this point, so there should be no issues to making an informed decision. Now, the conversation about rights and government control is absolutely valid. I personally equate it to drunk driving.
In reply to mtn (Forum Supporter) :
THAT data is clear to you and me.
I don't think it proves anything about the risk management and assessment data that leaders have available to them.
SVreX (Forum Supporter) said:In reply to 93EXCivic :

Yup. It has become so tribal that if one group thinks something is a good idea the other automatically doesn't regardless of whether the data backs it up or not.
I find myself falling into that trap sometimes and I have to try to step back but it feels like it has become increasingly hard to do that.
I have my mask on every time I go into a building and I think it's a really fantastic idea, but I honestly go back and forth on how I feel about a legal mandate to wear one. The fact that executive orders and emergency declarations are used to do that kind of rubs me the wrong way - I'd probably feel a lot better about it if it was coming from the legislative branch of government as opposed to the executive branch. That said, though, I had my fire re-inspection at Toiletbird Industries the other morning and the two firemen who showed up were maskless. I was wearing my mask already, despite being the only person in a space that isn't really covered by the mask order, and they said that if it would make me more comfortable they would put theirs on. My reply was only semi-joking that they could do whatever they thought was best but I'm just following the governor's order to wear a mask. So they didn't put theirs on.
They proceeded to tell me a story about how one of the other firemen went into Kroger and forgot his mask. By the time they got back to the fire station with their groceries, the city building had three calls complaining about the fireman without a mask. They related the story in an indignant manner as though this was really unreasonable.
If they want to be unmasked, then fine, that really doesn't bother me at all. I accept the fact that by going out in public and interacting with people I take a risk that I'm going to catch something and that's really nothing new. But what irks me is that when you are part of "the government" and in your professional capacity you're not following the rules. And yeah, I know that a small city's fire department is pretty far removed from the Office of the Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, but you're wearing the city's seal and have a Kentucky Official Vehicle license plate on your truck. And, yeah, I know city vehicles and cops don't always drive the speed limit and make a full and complete stop at the sign either. But, dammit, they should. They certainly shouldn't be surprised when people call them out for violating the rules that the rest of us have to follow!

Bob, what is your opinion on Drunk Driving and the governments involvement with that?
Certainly a good thing in most cases. What I have a problem with is being arrested for drunk driving while sitting in my parked car, not intending to drive anywhere, trying to sleep it off (which does happen).
I think one of Bob's primary points is using blanked laws (rules) that don't allow reasonable exceptions and are on their face, in some situation, just ridiculous (similar to how silly zero tolerance laws are in many situations).
You do get me. To make things more annoying is our idiotic governor decided to make not wearing a mask a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail. Now, As a kid we had to take government classes and in 7th grade we spent the whole year on Indiana history and politics. No where in that education or in any Indiana code have I found where the executive branch can unilaterally write what is essentially a law with life changing consequences (a teacher that forgot their mask at WalMart would lose their teaching license etc.) without the state house or senate approval.
This type of over-reach to me is what really drives me nuts. It's happening all over the country. Little things here, little things there. Always "think about the children" or "if it saves one life!" or some other phrase that has no bearing or meaning other than to pull on the heart strings and make you a villain if you don't agree. I mean even here, the best place left on the internet, I've been villified, called callous and harsh etc because I don't tow the party line.
Lifes Grey people. And red. And blue. And white and black and yellow and purple and thousands of other shades of colors, non-colors, absence of colors..... Its about time we started acting like that instead of "you're either my enemy or my ally".
A few days ago I witnessed an accident scene (after the event) with several vehicles involved. Lots of police, firemen, paramedics, and the people involved in the accident. Paramedics were in hazmat mode, police 50 % wearing face coverings, firemen no face coverings, ordinary citizens involved as drivers & passengers all wearing facial coverings. I noted that everyone involved were within a couple feet of others as they went about their tasks. Then the 5-6 firemen jumped in their truck & drove away.
Got my test results back today. I've got a screamin' case of the Mexican Beer Flu!
berkeley.
Now, I have to figure out how to survive the next two weeks without losing my mind.

Umm, you don't mean a hangover, do you?
If that was an indication that you tested positive for Corona, Take good care, and keep us posted.
In reply to NOT A TA :
I've worked a few MVA scenes. It's really pretty hard to keep any kind of distance on scene. As for the firefighters? Dunno why they didn't wear a mask. Maybe they don't like hiding those glorious moustaches...
Im still of the opinion that mandatory mask laws are ridiculous, if not downright stupid. This is America, and we are known for rebelling against authority. Find a different way to deliver the message of "wear a mask", and stop politicizing a genuine problem. That was the downfall of the response from the word go- it was instantly political.

Good luck with it. Hope it doesn't hit you hard. Been months since my next door neighbor got out of the hospital after a month long stay and he's still not well.

That's a good attitude to have. Shut yourself in and post on GRM a LOT and we'll help you get through it.

Hang tough, man. Not to be a jerk, but I wish you had a hangover

Hangover probably would've felt better. Yesterday morning's trip to the ER was really rough. I don't even remember making the drive...

Follow the Henry Rollins plan: masturbation and body-weight exercises. When you can't do one, do the other.
This E36 M3 sucks. I don't ever remember being so absolutely exhausted. I've probably slept 30 of the last 48 hours. Ugh...

Has your body got to the point of feeling like you were hit by a dump truck, followed by a bus and then a couple pickups yet? Once you hit that point you're in your way back up. I think that first 2 days I was awake maybe 4 hours total, like truly coherent and doing something.
Helped a friend (who tested negative on a rapid test a week prior) pack to move all of their stuff 2000 miles- was planning on road tripping with him. After everything was packed, the night before we were to set off and after hours of me working alongside this guy, he got a call that it was a false negative and his full panel test showed that he was, in fact, Covid positive a week ago.
I went straight home and am self quarantining, getting tested today. It's still possible I didn't get it, but seems unlikely given that I was staying in his apartment during preparations for hitting the road.
In reply to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :
Damn... I guess that means Sara has to quarantine as well? Fingers crossed for the both of you.

I haven't gotten within 6ft of her, and am wearing a mask any time I'm outside the guestroom right now- eating outside too. The garage is all mine, though, so there's that!

One of my employee's daughter tested positive. He got it from taking care of her but the wife didn't. The other 7 people in the house also didn't get it. It apparently takes a pretty good viral load to transmit it. Some common sense distancing, cleaning and hand washing stops the spread.
We do a pretty good job of cleaning around the office and that kept the spread out of the company.

FTFY.
Lower viral loads are still being shown to transmit, but the chances of it happening are lower, and if it is transmitted, the level of infection is MUCH lower to the point that it becomes asymptomatic in many.
In reply to mtn (Forum Supporter) :
They weren't wearing masks at home, nor do we use them in the office since we don't work on top of each other. A little common sense and a understanding of how viruses transmit will do more to stop the spread than blindly wearing masks. Masks don't work if you don't take the time to clean common surfaces and your hands on a regular basis.
If the powers that be had started out with a educational mind set rather than a do as you are told mind set, we probably wouldn't be where we are now. The general public would understand what was happening and how to stop it. But there was zero chance of that happening. Being condescending and bossy is much more fun.
In reply to Toyman01 (Moderately Supportive Dude) :
All that. What makes it more enteraining is the different mask mandate requirements. In Marion county it's "wear a mask in a building no exceptions period" even if you're the only person there. The governor's state mandate states that you can remove mask indoors if you can "properly self distance and/or have protective measures in place". So you can meet one, but not the other and receive a fine. It's pretty idiotic.
