Once WalMart fills up in the morning the should fill the store with mustard gas. I saw more stupidity on the road this morning than on New Years Eve. One genius missed his exit, made a u turn from the left lane to the right lane and drove back to it. There was no shoulder so he just put on his high beams and went back up the right lane.

As for being open on thanksgiving it would be nice if there was one day a year we could close up shop. I understand essential services have to be open, and groceries and gas in the am for last minute needs but everyone should be able to spend an afternoon with their family. Saying someone should have to go work at Walmart because the police have to work is nonsense. There is no other time someone would compare a cashier with a cop except when their right to shop is being infringed upon.

No black Friday for me. I'm holding home office hours.

the only problem I'd have with that is … we don't cook on Thanksgiving anymore .. so we eat out … glad there are several restaurants to choose from that are open for Thanksgiving meals

What about anyone else working a non-big box store? Police, Fire, Ambulance, gas stations, people in TV/Radio, call centers, etc. There are lots of people that don't have the day off. I'm sure many people working low-wage retail jobs are more than glad to have the hours today vs having it off.

because most of those would be off WITHOUT pay …

Went last night to get the B-I-L's gifts for next christmas and a new Bissell steam cleaner for us since ours literally died last week.

Wife, who is suffering from a sinus infection, strep and bronchitis (at the same time, when she gets sick she goes all out!) got tired of laying in the spare bedroom coughing and got up early and bought me my b-day gift (next Tues) from Menards. So now I have to find a place for the new 18-gun firesafe that weighs close to 300lbs. Such a hard life. lol

I might go out... there are a couple of things from H-F I need... and when I was at the nearby Sam Ash store recently, they had a couple of things I could use... And there's something fun about taking the Mini when going out shopping...

None for us.
Gotta go to Home Depot later today for some steel tubing, but none of that's on sale...

I have been watching the online stuff. If anyone's looking for a toolset/toolbox, WalMart seemed to have a good deal online.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stanley-Rolling-Tool-Chest-STMT72656-with-Bonus-88-Pc-Mechanical-Tool-Set/29205365
(Just thought a rolling 5 drawer tool chest with roller bearing drawers and an 88 piece tool set for $89 and free shipping wasn't bad)

Online will be the only way I black Friday buy, but there's nothing that I need to have...

just bought the same thing … could have gotten it at the local store (it was listed as available) but that would have required fighting the Black Friday crowds AND having to pay state tax … don't need the chest immediately, so saved $6 on tax

I'm working today, but I'm venturing out on my break to try and snag a PS3 bundle (yes, a PS3, not a PS4) that's on sale at Gamestop. I'm going to call ahead and see if it's there. I'm 100% not going to brawl with someone over it. I want to play GT5 and I could use a Blu-Ray/streaming device, so I might as well get a game system that does it all.

I tried the whole "get up early and get a good deal" thing once a few years back, but never again. People are wild animals when you dangle a $200 TV (that will break in 6 months) in limited quantities in front of them. If you look in the right places, good deals on better stuff are out there and you won't have to wait in line. Plus, Cyber Monday is better.

And I think it's completely asinine that lots of these stores are open on Thanksgiving Day.

Well... I got what I needed, but none of it was on sale... From H-F: (4) furniture dollies (bought for the casters - cheapest way to get 4); a tarp, ratchet tie-downs and two plastic drawer boxes for organizing my nut & bolt collections. Sam Ash: a set of locking tuners for my Strat and a new 3-way switch for my Explorer. The best I managed was a few $ off at the Sam Ash store when the guy ringing it up gave me his discount.

I hate working on days like today. It's dead. No one's online and I think I've been to the edge of the internet 3 times already today.

Went to Home Depot earlier today to pick up some stuff I ordered online. Place was moderately busy, but not too bad.

Took maybe 10 minutes from the time I walked in until I was loading my stuff in the back of the Jeep and getting out of there. That made me happy, so I decided to not push my luck any further, and just go throw some beer and wings down my neck.

Got some tea at the tea store. Did not buy new cell phones. Came home. Have to go out later- I need to smuggle some cash to my bank account ( wife has NO clue what i'm up to) and get a toy car carpet (you know, the one you had unless your parents didn't love you) from my son's great aunt, and I think we need sammich bags. There might also be a bottle of bourbon and some old fashioneds in my future. I feel like drinking classy tonight.

I took SWMBO to go pick up her check and dropped her off at the outlets. She called about 10 minutes later to tell me she was done, the lines were nuts.

We then went over to Lowe's and Gamestop, where she couldn't believe just how efficiently those stores handled their BF customers.

Also took advantage of the GRM deal.

I made the mistake of hitting up HF and Office Depot.

HF had metric and sae 9pc wrench sets for $5.99, 6n1 screwdrivers for $2, a tool bag for $5, and a set of wire brushes that fit in a drill for $3.

Office Depot had 32GB flash drives for $12, a bluetooth headset that will do media and phone for $14.99, and 16GB micro sdhc cards for $9.

Last night I hit up blipshift's deal for a t-shirt and some stickers.

May be hitting up speedhunter's deal for some stickers.

Pretty sure I'll add a year to my GRM later.

I don't know if I'm just getting old and grouchy, but Black Friday just disgusts me. Don't really like shopping anyway, but the idea of people in a consumer feeding frenzy is kind of vile.
