Who likes cheap ice cream cake that tastes really good and that you made all by yourself? And, its great if you want to impress those--just don't tell them how you made it! Just made it for the third time for my birthday yesterday.
I present to you the Oreo-Icecream sandwich-Icecream Cake, blatantly stolen from the Kraft website.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup hot fudge
1 tub (8 oz.) Cool whip
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) Chocolate Instant Pudding
8 Oreos, chopped up
12 vanilla ice cream sandwiches
Heat the fudge up, and pour into medium bowl. Whisk in 1 cup cool whip. Add dry pudding mix; stir 2 min. Stir in chopped cookies.
arrange 4 ice cream sandwiches, side-by-side, on 24-inch-long piece of foil--if you have a pan or plate about the size of the four sandwiches, put it on top of the foil. Top with half the coolwhip/fudge mixture. Repeat layers. Top with remaining sandwiches. Frost top and sides with remaining COOL WHIP. Bring up foil sides; double fold top and ends to loosely seal packet.
Freeze 4 hours.
Its really good, easy, and cheap--total cost for the ingredients came out to about 8 dollars (buy the generics, except for the oreos) and I still have most of the oreos, fudge, and a bit of the whipped cream left.
This is how Kraft says it will look:
This is how it usually looks:
Just thought I'd share.
EDIT: Kraft webpage, with a video demonstrating
NOM.
That looks pretty awesome.
If your freeze it in liquid nitrogen then cut it with a band saw, it will look just like the Kraft picture.
Looks good, but what is it? Eight billion calories a slice?

Don't ask, and it doesn't matter. It feels like it weighs about 10 lbs, but for us it lasts about two days with ten people. Cut it in thin slices--its a cake, its not gonna be healthy.

If you have to ask, you can't eat it.

I can't stand ice cream cake.
I don't like extra sweet deserts, darkest chocolate available for me.
Whoever though of putting cake icing on top of ice cream was just asking for touble. "Are you a diabetic? If not, you are now!"

Mount Vesuvius!!!!
Do pretty much the same thing you did, but make it out of decreasing sized discs. Stack them up with ice cream in between. Put marange on top and use a shot glass to punch a dent into the top.
Bake it ala Baked Alaska. Use one egg shell [almost whole] to put on top of the cake. Fill it with Keirshvasser, a liqueur. Set the liqueur on fire. It runs down the sides melting the marange, looks like a volcano going off.

Something sweet that you set on fire. Who would have thought you would hear about it on GRM. The only thing missing is bacon.

Missed it by two posts. Damnit. Bacon sprinkles would make that thing awesome X 2.
wife has been making that recipe for a while now :)... it's REAL rich... good eats and fairly easy to make... yay for kraft foods online (same place she got it)
I never liked ice cream cake. Doesn't taste like ice cream. Doesn't taste like cake. Blatant misrepresentation.

This one actually kinda tastes like both. To a certain extent. There is no doubting that its kinda ice cream, and no doubting that its a cake... At least to me
