As an absolutely huge Who fan, I will sadly agree. If it was 1971, yea, sure, put them up there. But, no. It was bad.

As a rule, if it's the Super Bowl halftime act, it probably sucks. The last time someone good played was when Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in the late '90s (yea, remember them?), and they were only the opener. This year was no exception to the rule. I used the time to use the bathroom, get another beer, get more food, and shoot the E36 M3 with friends.

Not even much of a KISS fan, but this is a great suggestion.

But will they be allowed to play poop in a jar?

Much better than Madonna or Janet Jackson or whoever else was cool 20 years ago and charges way too much money to perform.

Other choices:

I'd pay to go if Alice Cooper was the halftime show.

Gwar would be hilarious.

But to answer the original question: the reunion of Guns N' Roses with Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steven! Today was Axl Roses birthday... he's 50, (when the berkeley did that happen!?!?!!!) so they better get to it ASAP if it's ever gonna happen.

Wife says battle of marching bands. I thought Mick's chicken arms were cute a couple years ago. Looked like my grandma's arms. With all the "M"s on everything last night, all I could think of was Lavern & Shirley. Madona is my age. She is holding up better!

I'd have 3 pianos midfield. Playing the first would be Billy Joel. The second would be Elton John. The third would be Stevie Wonder. They would play two songs each, but the rule is that of those two songs, they'd have to be originally performed by one of the other performers, e.g.

I'd love to hear Billy Joel sing "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting" and Stevie Wonder sing "Bennie and the Jets", Elton sing "It's Still Rock 'n Roll To Me", etc.

Old Crow Medicine Show. They don't need a fancy stage set, just give them a lot of liquor. However, if the media is so up in arms about a middle finger, I doubt that any of OCMS's songs would fly.

My first thought was also AC/DC. Right combination of experienced showmanship and known catchy songs.

I'm not a big No Doubt fan, but they did a damn good half time show a few (number of?) years ago.

This is an AWESOME idea. Can Jerry Lee Lewis still sing?

Was he EVER able to sing?

Glad you like the idea, though. I'm still working on what songs I'd like to hear each of them play. "You May Be Right" done by Elton would probably be a riot, depending on what he was wearing. "Always a Woman to Me" by Stevie Wonder would probably be great, too.

How about something at least relevant to the current year, and demographic of the viewers?

Like a UFC fight or something.

Metallica has played some parking lot pregame shows at Oakland Raiders games before, so if it's ever in the bay area get them.. they could showcase some of the other bands from the area- think of a 20 minute metal jam with Metallica, Faith No More, Testament and Green Day. hell, bring the orchestra out, too, since they played so awesome with them when they did the S&M shows.

i think the Foo Fighters would do a very entertaining half time show that would still be accessible to the masses- Dave Grohl is properly wired for shows like this-and of course Tenacious D would be their very special guest..

Works for me!

Or, as long as we're talking about old guys, how about John Paul Jones and Steve Wold. After all Wold was on Top Gear with a 3-Stringer made from Morris Minor hubcaps. Seasick Steve

And Another-Street Performance at the SuperBowl :-)
