In the last week, i've gotten two letters from the BMV containing the registration charges/bills for each of my five cars.
One had the Jeep and Miata on it. No big deal.
The other one was addressed to BOTH of us, and contained Escort, Celica, and MX6.
The Escort has both our names on it. The other two.... DO NOT. WHY is it contained in a letter to both of us? We are NOT married.
All 5 cars are registered to the same address.
The Escort, Celica, and MX6 are EACH showing a different township. (As such, different costs.)
The Celica is showing under one county. The Escort and MX6, another. (As such, different costs.
Just exactly what the berkeley are they trying to do here? This is going to be a fun phone call this week.
Also: It'd be nice to be told when you buy a special plate that you will have to pay the extra money EVERY year. I'm not entirely sure i want to pay an extra $40/year for a DARE plate on the MX6. Once was fine. 3 times is not.
They're staffed by government employees.
Ever since they made it where you only go to the branch to get your picture taken it has gotten even worse than it had ever been. Hope when I get my custom plate it doesn't cost me the extra 50 bucks every year.

I have a feeling i'll be going to the branch to raise hell. I was looking forward to just paying online this year, too.
would you guys stop making the NJ DMV look good?
Must be your state, when I lived in Tn. I got a "save the wildlife" license plate. I only had to make 1, 1 time donation. Then, for the next 4 years whenever they tried to give me a new plate (I always renewed in person) I just got the stickers. Flipside? Living in Memphis my registration cost $147/year. Here in Fl. it's about $45/year, and Florida allowed me to renew for 1 or 2 years...with 2 years being slightly cheaper that 1+1.
Out here in NV, you donate every year if you have a special plate, but if you look up the various plates online they make it very clear that that's the deal.
