Every time I try to click on a link here and elsewhere, I get sent to this infernal website with a bunch of ads. Anyone know how I get rid of this darn interceptor?

I run Superantispyware (Free Edition) the MS Security Suite, and Adblock/Ghostery/NoScript. I'm pretty well covered.

I had a nasty browser hijacker last week that neither Security Essentials nor Malwarebytes would touch. I finally killed it with the free trial of ESET Nod32.

I couldn't get to anything that came up on a Google search, but my bookmarked links still worked and I could also type the URL address into the address bar, which is how I was able to get the Nod32 loaded.

If you want to pay for an antivirus I recommend Nod32.

Protip to make Windows PCs far less likely to get infected: Use Firefox with the Flashblock addon and use an alternate PDF reader like Foxit or Evince. You've just blocked many of the top attack vectors, and Flashblock will make your PC run much faster since it isn't chugging away rendering the most resource-hungry ads on the web.

I use Spybot Seach and Destroy. Has done a pretty good job for spyware and adware for many years.

McAfee Stinger just helped me out from a nasty virus this past weekend.

What us the best anti virus / malware software? Over the years I have run lots of them (mcafee, snorton, avg, avast, Microsoft security essential etc)

I roll avast on one machine and Microsoft on the other , and only use Internet explorer for the few moron sites that require it.
