Amen to that. My wife and I are going to talke the kids with us after I get home from work.

How will you know who to vote for?
Grtechguy wrote: True...why does that exist in today's closely connected world? I understood when voting wasn't easily accessible (pre 1930s).
Because 'merica is sometimes a bassackwards friggin place.

Truthfully though, out of the crap you guys have to choose from, you're probably screwed. Good luck down there!

Actually...
THE CONSTITUTION Article II
Section 1. The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
The Congress may determine the Time of choosing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.
Twelfth Amendment
The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate; The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;--The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice.... The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President to the United States.
There is a process to change it, but apparently no one has thought it was enough of a problem to do so.

EXACTLY.

It's only wasted if you don't cast it.

That's one of ways the media influences the voting. VOTE anyway!!

E36 M3, I'll do that tonight when I get home.........I drove a 4x4 and made sure I had a rifle today. Should have seen the looks at the polling place when they noticed the lever action in the back window.
Voted this morning w/ my wife. My line was shorter (because kept her maiden name--HA!!!)
In and out in a jiffy. Had to show photo ID for the first time, but no militia shenanigans making it difficult for people to vote.

Its ok, we've still forgotten about our berkeleying eastern neighbors ........I'm still awaiting a public question from our western neighbors to cede Chicago into a district instead of Illinois.....
I'm not. I don't like ANY of the choices and I'm not big on picking the "lesser of two evils".
I'll let my voice do the talking when I go lobbying in March - sure as hell gets a lot more accomplished than voting does. This year I helped get 10 million moved to different education programs with 3 days of work. Lobbyists have power - not voters. That's especially true since most people only tune in every two or four years and don't hold their elected officials' feet to the fire once in a while.

Actually, the Bayh-Celler amendment passed the House but died in the Senate in about 1970. Nixon supported it but would not lobby for passage.
I was in line to vote this morning when the polls opened and waited for about an hour. It is a rough crowd at that time of day
I stood in blowing Atlanta rail this morning for 1 1/2 hours, but I voted.
Also, Gasoline advice: When watching the returns come in tonight, every time you hear the words "Battleground State"......take a drink.
Voted here too!
I was there at 9:45am not too busy at the polls here, even got a free packet of "Forget-me-not" flower seeds from some guy wearing a red-white-and-blue top hat...haha

This is going to be a big hard election, and the only way to settle this raging election is if everyone goes out and gets in line to pull on a rod!
Took care of it at lunch. First time voting in Michigan. Im sure it was just my precinct but it was like a trip back in time with paper ballots and markers.
