'94-96 Slicktop Z32
Full STX prep with focus on lightweight. 17x9s, 255s, etc. (Should be low 2900lbs)
SR20DET motor (Now should be around 2700lbs)
Its now the same dimensions and weight as a BRZ/FRS, but with a better suspension, more power, and looks hot :)

Column shift? In a 1930's style speedster?
No...
Sorry guys, no build thread, this is a very slow project.
Something like this:
I've been collecting the parts slowly over the last couple of years.
I have everything but the body, steering column and seats.
Now I just need to find the floor in my garage.

Something like this:
Don't make me build a 1930's style speedster with three-on-the-tree just to spite you...

Here's the build thread:

Anyone else notice the drum brakes on this thinking-out-of-the-box '60s Indy car?
The brakes just stop the car in the pits so there is no point using a heavy disc in place of the Alum. Drum.
I have about a dozen ideas to finish my Monte Carlo and my wife is hoping to get something small with no top, hopefully an old Nash Metropolitan modernized to drive everyday

I've been wanting a Bugatti 35 replica myself for a long time, but the current idea swirling around my head is an LSx powered Ferrari 400i.
Well, the 400i automatic uses a GM THM400, so the bellhousing might be the same, making it a pretty easy swap, theoretically anyway...
EDIT: in the spirit of this thread, my bench builds as of recently have included an a-mod fun car built as light as possible using the FSAE allowances, a B-mod sports racer built from the ground up, various water-cooled powerplant swaps into a Porsche 914 (including a KL-DE or H25/H27 V6 swap...), a RWD, Escort Cosworth replica based on an '80s Escort and Miata running gear, and god only knows how many other hairbrained ideas
Super milage edition. Something around 1000-1200#, like a westfeild(But hard top and better aero), with a 3cyl kubota turbo diesel.
I've recently been dreaming of some weird things:
Ever since seeing this:
I've had the urge to do something similar; find an old Suzuki LJ80 with a so-rusty-it-is-half-collapsed body, and start hacking.
Another is like some of the other people who have posted here, a Cycle Car. Just something stupid light, as in less than 1000lbs, and throw in a Kawasaki 400cc parallel twin. 44hp should be entertaining at in something what weighs...say, 600-700 lbs?
I'd also love...and I do mean, "drooling on the floor" love the idea of a "modernized" Lotus/Westfield 11: Monocoque aluminum chassis with a roof. Engine? Suzuki 660cc Turbo from Japan? 600cc bike engine? Throw disc brakes at it. Target weight: 900lbs
Back to the CJ2, I think it would be easiest to pull an entire jeep/ChryCo 2.4L engine/tranny/transfer case. It would also keep it "in the family"
Going this route, it might work to take a 4cly TJ and just chop the frame down to fit a CJ2 body.
OK so this is bench build of the week, I posted last week so here’s this weeks.

There's a blue Henry J on craigslist with nice patina. Just add 4G63 and AWD.
