Okay, it seems everyone is currently on a C4 'Vette kick at the moment. So let's post our finds here.
I'll start.
1985, Z51 manual transmission. $2000
CL dude: "Here is a complete 85 corvette. Z51 package .It's a 4+3 stick shift car.this means it has a dana 44 rear axle. Engine and heads are basicly new. Ive had this car running and driving, however its sat so long one of the valves has stuck from the engine being new and tight. we can pull a valvecover off to show you if you like.New rubber on it a few years back.Car has just sat for many years, will need towed I've had it running a couple years back. I put new injectors in it, has a rebuilt atari cluster. Clean title. Car will part out for more. no trades. PRICE IS BOTTOM DOLLAR CASH. lowballers dont waste your time,IF YOU OFFER LESS YOU WILL BE IGNORED"
It's listed at $2600, but I think with some haggling you'd get it for challenge money (listed for over a month now). Manual trans and he says it runs.
$1400 - no title but runs in -Chicago-

$1,800 Delaware. Sorry I don't know American. In the Wash.D.C. area the cheapest was $3,900. Much better luck with the furrin' stuff around here.
ain't looked 'cause I got one, Atlanta CL is a good source, drove mine home for a grand.and yes It was Rough.
85 auto, runs, $2000 https://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/6044266289.html
86 auto, no engine, $1500 https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/6017978319.html
Winston Salem, NC, Auto. https://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/6043820033.html
This can only lead from worse to better. If I didn't have a c3 on jack stands I'd be all over a c4 for the fun of it. I feel like I'm missing out on IBM stock from back in the day.
post deleted, thank the universe, now I can try to stop thinking about it

What's hard is I have a C3 that needs finishing, and my Automotive ADD gets the best of... Ooh, over there, shiny.
Mmm, freshly painted.
"1987 c4 corvette project car Fresh new paint and all body work perfect . Engine needs to be timed and needs brake master cylinder Needs interior put together have all parts needs carpet kit just no time to finish it before i go. Will take any reasonable offer 2200obo. will consider trades as well."
I'm still pondering, but would the Challenge rules allow a Roadkill-style C4 Kart? They had the Locost clause, why not some chopped up rollcaged Vettes? Sacrilege? Maybe that much tubing and welding would kill the budget--Do these command any demand for parts or are they dime-a-dozen until someone wrecks the market at Barrett-Jackson?
