I just had my first Trevor mission... ended up skipping it. I really suck at intense shooting missions.

The stolen boat one? I think I got that one on the second swat. I like the challenge. If you can do it on the first try, what the hell is the point in playing? (IMHO, YMMV.) If it was impossible, it wouldn't be in the first couple hours of game play.
Weird. Reminds me of the first GTA. Four dudes hovering around a computer drinkin beers. Fail a mission? Get killed/arrested? ROTATE! ;)
Wait. I may be confused. Is Trevor the retiring white gangster dude? Like, the 2nd "main" character? I may be way farther behind in the game than you guys.
Trevor is the meth head hick. Mike is the rich guy.
Fwiw, I feel like I've barely played and my mission progress is already 17%.
Trevor is the crazy redneck dude. Franklin is the young banger, Michael is the retired thief with a family.
They've made firefights a LOT more cover based in this game, so I typically sneak around with Trevor popping one guy at a time, then use his special ability when I have about 4 tangos or more in sight. Step out of cover, pick an automatic weapon, and put some baddies down!
Just got the game tonight, this download is taking forever!
10 minutes and it's not even halfway downloaded!

As far as 360 vs. PS3, I think it boils down to the same debate as always. If you really value multiplayer, go 360. If not, pick either. The only reason I went PS3 is because my 360 is getting sold soon.
Now that I've figured out, as mentioned, this game is more cover based than running around like a mad man, I'm getting further in the game.

Absolutely true. I did Franklin's mission where he's ambushed with Lamar and some dude recently from prison in a building. You had to take cover to last. I could pop out and nail some guys but after laying down some fire you couldn't just stand there. You'd get perforated.
*HOT TIP**
If you join the GTAV Social Club you get some exclusive stuff. The stuff is an assault submachine gun (pretty nice gun that holds 60 rds.), a super car named the Ennis Allegy RH8 (Haven't driven it yet.), and some other stuff like exclusive hair cuts. http://www.rockstargames.com/V/socialclub
I joined last night for the hell of it and wasted some fools with the SMG.
Last night, I built a red turbo Suburban. Now I can drive my truck in the game. It's a LOT faster in the game, though.
I dug the Michael mission where he pulled the deck down on the house.....reminded me of Lethal Weapon where good ol Mel pulls the house down with a Chevy dually.
Also, their attention to detail is pretty amazing. We were in LA earlier in the year (visiting family) and stayed on Sunset blvd (not the best idea), which turns out to be West Valley BLVD or something like that in the game. Anyway, there were several landmarks like the super classy strip club, Chateau Marmont, the trolley car diner, and a mexican restraunt that I noticed right away. I wasn't even looking for sunset, but was driving around and was like "hey, this looks like Sunset" then saw all the stuff. Pretty cool.
I'm not getting as many missions done as I should be because I cruise around so much. I'm not even at Trevor yet! The last mission I finished was Michael's where he rigged the cellphone to kill the guy on TV.
I actually enjoy the Trevor missions. I like the action.
After a few missions racking up some cash, I went to Ammunation and picked up some weapons. Barely dinged the pocketbook, but then again, I get a discount. Get a gold medal on all the range training.
Saving the playable disc to the hard drive (8GB) helps load times a little and slightly helps the graphics.
I've got all the Xbox handles on this thread if you want to share it for some multiplayer.

Damn! How big is that discount? I didn't go for the gold as I didn't want to spend the time hammering away at targets instead of causing mayhem.

I read the best way to do this is to install one of the disks to the hard drive and then install the play disk to a USB memory stick. Both require 8 GB of space. I don't have long load times at all. Also, seamless play while hammering down the road. I rarely see a texture or large object graphics glitch.

I'm up to 25% off, but maybe acing them with other players will increase that. Get your tactics down and it doesn't take too long. You wanna get pissed off? Compare your score to your friends by pressing the right bumper.

I just installed both to the HD.

My buddy and I drove from Las Vegas toward LA and he almost had a conniption fit when we hit the town of Primm. He was playing Fallout 3: New Vegas a lot at the time. He was all like "I've run down that roller coaster before!"

ME TOO!!! Played that one last night. Dug the part where dude gave him the bill and he's all "There goes early retirement." Rare that I actually dig/care to follow the story/dialogue in a game.
I tried to rob a 7/11 last night, but accidentally punched some chick while trying to figure out how to pull up my gun. Wife was watching, and said "That dude just took a picture of you with his phone! You better kill that motherberkeleyer!" I ignored her and walked into the quickie mart. As I was walking in, the screen lit up. I'm guessing people will actually CALL the cops now. Kind of cool. Attention to detail.
And yeah, I'm taking my time too. I spend a lot of time at the range...and beating people to death. The mini-gun challenge was berkeleying awesome.
Tried to DL the ifruit app on my phone last night and didn't have enough space. WTF? I JUST deleted a ton of pics too. I may need to drop some audio books & E36 M3.

Hell. Doesn't do E36 M3 on the Android yet.

The app has been having issues anyway.

I downloaded it the day before the game came out and logged in fine. Although I am pretty sure the license plate part was not working (I wanted to try and reserve a decent one), it kept saying all of them were taken and I was trying some very obscure ones. I have not been able to log on since.

I need to find a 7/11 and try this. I'm finding it easier to get the wanted level dropped comparted to IV.
In reply to z31maniac:
I think there's one just north of the black dude's crib. Like, hop the fence in the back yard, and you're looking at it...but I may have been drinking at the time.
I will check it out. The wife is working late-ish and I came in early so I could get out of here early.
So I can continue playing without distraction.
You'll need to log in to post.
