Been doing the iRacing thing for a couple months.   Moving up to the Skippy for this season, going to try and get every week, and see how things go.

Really struggling with Laguna Seca, just like I did in 2018S3 in the final week with the MX-5.

Anybody else out there in iRacing land?

Didn't care for Laguna Seca.  Finally managed some runs with minimal incidents, but my positioning in the field was terrible.  Never in the single digits for final position.

Moving to Motegi for the 2nd week.  In practice, I already like this track.   A couple tricky spots, but otherwise I like the ebb and flow.   Tomorrow perhaps I'll get some racing in on the course.

Motegi, in the Skippy, is an exercise in "yes, you are that slow".  But man this track is really stinking enjoyable in this car.   I don't care that I'm coming in 10th out of 12.   Actually, my times are improving nicely,  just not enough yet to halt my irating slide.   That and I'm keeping up with the main body a lot better than previously.   Sure, I'm at the back of the pack,  but I'm no longer a half lap behind them.    Won't take much before I start climbing up in places.

Nice, I've wanting to build another rig, but things have kept coming up this year (as things do the first year you own a home). I miss it. I don't think I've done a race on iRacing since late 2015/early 2016

What is the skippy?

Skippy is the Skip Barber Formula 2000.

Been having a great time driving the skippy,  and season is about 2/3 through.

I'd been dreading the Nurburgring all season,  and have been dabbling with it in practice for a few weeks now.  This week was some solid practice, some ghost sessions, and I finally decided it was too much for me, so I turned on the racing line again.  The track is just too complex to learn until you have an hell of a lot more laps on it.  I managed to sneak into a 4th place finish with only 1 incident point for a minor 'wheels on the dirt' moment.   Not bad for 450 corners on the most dangerous and notorious track in the world.  I'm within striking distance of running 'C' class races now.

A gruesome statistic though is of the 15 drivers on the grid in this session, only 5 managed to complete a full lap with a recorded time.   Ouch.

Also picked up the Formula Renault 2.0.   Holy moly that's a jump in performance from the lowly Skip Barber.  I'm definitely not committing to that level of performance on a regular basis just yet.   At least one more serious season with the Skip before I'll jump into one of those higher series.
