Let's say you dad came to you and said: "Son/daughter, you'll be 16 next month and you're going to need some transportation. Your mom and I would like to get you a new car. What reasonably priced car would you like to have?"
Ok, that's the fantasy. So what would it have been? I know exactly what mine would have been. I had a life changing experience when I was 15. An older high school friend let me drive his bug-eyed Sprite.
So, on my 16th birthday this was new:
However, since I fell in love with a Bugeye I would have asked for this instead:
So what would you have asked for? If you can, please take time to include a picture(s).
I have now become that stereotype middle-aged guy who has just bought the car he wanted in high school. This must be my midlife crisis.
A GMT400 Z71, extended cab 4x4
SN95 Mustang GT
All the rich kids in school got a Mustang GT when they turned 16....I was so, so jealous.
FWIW, I would've wanted the outfit, too. Don't judge. It's not my fault I was 16 in the late ’70s.
Margie
It was between the stealth rt and the Mk iv supra for me. Should have known I would be a turbo junkie. I didn't even know what turbos were back then.
1992 Camaro RS 305/5-spd or ...
A scout leader was selling one just like that (73 Monte) with a 350 4bbl and a 4spd with ralleye's.
New car? Money not a real object? It would've been an S351
Realistically/used car: 92-94 talon TSi fwd in this color
In reply to Keith Tanner:
Keith, it was your thread about this car that inspired my thread. I knew it would be interesting to see what other forum members dreamed of owning. I'm surprised we haven't seen a "reasonably priced" Countach dream car.
My first 86 CRX was monochrome white with white alloys, inspired by some of the European tuners during the 80s. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures.
I was just getting over my Countach obsession by 16-
Started falling in love with these at driving age-

I would guess that goes for most of us.
I was 16 in 98 so new I would have wanted a Trans am or camaro, but realistically I would have liked an 80s gti, fiero, or maybe a celica.
I thought this thing was the business for my first two years of highschool.
Then I got an automotive education and realized, by the time I could afford one, it was just a nightmare waiting to happen
