My old R-90 gets a new battery almost every year. If the carbs aren't right, the choke isn't set perfect, you'll run out of battery before it fires up the first time of the day.

Not anymore!!

Over 500 CCA in a gel battery.

I keep the bike battery on a Battery Tender all winter. Burgman started instantly after a four month hibernation. I also use fuel stabilizer (the blue stuff).

In reply to GregW1:

I ride the k bike year around, so it stays off a tender, but it still likes to eat batteries. I have no idea why, so just blame it on being German. The Speed Triple doesn't eat it's batteries and sits way more often than the k bike. It's probably a bad sign when your most reliable street bike is British.

All my air-cooled R bikes ate batteries 'til I hard wired and soldered all the charging connections, got a kick-ass solid state voltage regulator and hot-rodded diode board from Motorrad Elektrik and cleaned a seated all the front covers on the engine. Then it charged at 14 volts like a champ, and the charge light didn't flicker at idle. Batteries lasted forever, too.

This one is canbus, so I can't do much to it or it'll freak out. It's pretty sensitive....ignoring a loose battery connection for less than 30 miles cost me a $1300 ecu. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but it happened. I have a love hate relationship with German vehicles, but this is pretty much the perfect bike for me. In fact, I'm very close to selling it and buying a new k1300s......I hate spending that kind of money on a bike, but my bike is basically my DD, so I think I'm ready to splurge a little.
