Well, this is a first attempt and I won't likely keep the cheap cases. But open to your thoughts, comments, and criticism.

I know it needs a little alignment on the left side as well

Threaded 8mm x 1.25 rod with nylon lock nuts thread directly into factory mounts. 1/8" x 1.5" flat stock bars for support

The ends of the rods trimmed off inside the cases and capped with wide washers and lock nuts

Lower mounts don't seem to show well in the picture. but shaking the case, shakes the bike

I don't like having extra spears on my motorcycles.

I want it all, minus the purple.

It actually looks really good. I would be interested in seeing what, if anything, shakes loose after a long trip. If you are going to ditch the cases, look on E-bay for a bulk of Pelican cases. A lot of photographers use them and they are rock solid and quite weather resistant. A good buddy bought a ton of them for his, and sold the rest to like minded friends for what he had in them.

alternately, I have heard of people using old ammo cans as permanent luggage, although an ammo can wouldn't exactly look right on a sport-touring bike like that

Well...took a ride yesterday and they held just fine.

Nope, the ammo cans is what I was going to put on my streetfighter, but couldn't find the right size.

Givi bags are out of my price range. (unless someone here wants to seperate with theirs cheaply) the pelican or MRI cases are probably the route I eventually go.

A ton of people on ADVrider use both.

what constitutes the right size for the ammo cans? I could take a look in my garage the next time I'm out there, provided I can find anything out there. I know there's at least one ammo can that will hold 100 rounds of .50 cal for a Browning M2, and somewhere in my house is my old lunch box which will hold either 100 rounds of .50 cal, or a sandwich box and an IBC rootbeer and a bag of chips and have room to spare

My streetfighter was a lightweight EX500 (aka very small bike) and was looking for the .50 cal boxes (12" x 6" x7 1/2") I had plans to paint the bike olive drab to match. But, the Bandit fell into my lap. So, I'm looking for a little more finished case now.

A lot of Dual-Sport type riders use the 20MM cases (L 17" x W 7" x H 15". ) as well. great for offroad durability

PS...for those that asked.. stable at no wiggling at high speeds (somewhere north of 75mph)
