So, the Burgman decided to slide out from under me last week (dry road, blind corner and water pooled across a lane and a half do not a good combo make). It managed to flip from it's right side to it's left, and it's good and messed up. I know that State Farm uses NADA for pricing, but when I go to that site, it asks what the bike is equipped with, and a full fairing is one of the options. They all came with a full fairing, so do I add that or not? I know that I will be keeping the GIVI top box, since they only feel that it is worth ~$40.

NADA for motorcycles is next to useless. Are you SURE the Farm uses that? Most insurers use CCC services to come up with market values, and the NADA guide is only one part of that formula.

I will have to double check, I know for cars that is exactly what they use. They tried to tell me that a Miata was only worth the "Fair" amount, when I had pics showing it in very good condition right before the accident. They tried to claim tht they were looking at a different site, until I asked why the numbers matched perfectly. After that, they played nice. Still, I will have to ask.

Read your policy. Know what your rights are. The word "arbitration" has a way of making a hard headed adjuster change his view oft times.

Ahem. I work at a company that rhymes with "Great Charm". Until very recently, my job at said company involved looking up values of various vehicles for various purposes, although take this with a grain of salt as my job is not on the same side as the typical insurance side of it.

The company in question uses something like BrownBook, or BlackTablet, or LibroNegro or something like that in conjunction with an auction database that I think had a steamroller or something named after them, Lamheim or Namheim or Manheiser, to value all cars, trucks, etc. For motorcycles, boats, RV's, ATV's, etc., we use NADA.

As for the full fairing, add it in, or tell them to add it in. It is included in the value, but the company may not realize it.

You'll need to log in to post.
