And it has nothing to do with the crash.
Just that really, there's hardly anywhere to ride trails around here for several hundred miles. I can go ride dirt roads in the likes of Michaux, but the place is ugly, and I just don't find it interesting. If I lived in Colorado, I'd sing a different tune, I'm sure. Here, far more trails are open to four wheelers.
Doesn't help that I now have the big Harley Road King. God is that bike comfortable. It eats up miles, and does dirt roads just fine. And really, this is the sort of riding I prefer. Leisurely riding scenically, watching the world unfold. Snaking through trees in skanky woods and picking my way over rock after rock just isn't nearly as fun or interesting as I thought it would be.
Ok. Maybe the crash has a little bit to do with it. But only a little bit!
Tough call there. XLs are helluva bikes. Only you know your limits. Keep it for down the road in case things change?
where you at? I have been looking for a XL600 for close to a year. People think that they are made of gold. I have found street legal XR650s for almost the same price, but I want air cooled and kick start.
Maryland. Not exactly down the street from you, but not on the other side of the country either.

Oh yeah? I have an '83 XL650R, or XL600R or whatever it is, I am wanting to get rid of. I meant to get it going over the winter, but I just never did. I mean, I guess it's still winter, but I don't think it's going to happen.
Lugnut, I might also be interested in the xl600 you have. Does it run/need anything?
I've been looking for a XL for a few months now and agree that bikes have somehow turned into gold no matter if they run or not .
Year? Mileage? Street legal? How much? I've been pondering a dual-sport for awhile...
Fox, how about you replace it with something fire road capable? Triumph Scrambler would do several things: be suitable for riding in places that will scratch the chrome on your Hawg, be comfortable for a height challenged guy like yourself, and create infinite jealousy of guys like me who can't afford two bikes. 
It doesn't run and it needs quite a bit. I bought it from a friend and I know it was a genuine ran when parked. Couldn't get it started, replaced some carb gaskets, put the carbs back on, haven't touched it since. Haven't put any fresh gas through it, haven't even kicked it since I put them back on. It's far from perfect, but I have the title and once running and lights are hooked up it will be streetable again. But I only want a few hundred for it.
I thought I would get to it, but I ended up spending my efforts elsewhere. Same old story.
And if you delivered it to sunny South Carolina I'd be all over it!
I wish I had a economical way to get it to Ohio
