This is my weekend to work - night shift. I work 12's, 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM.
My club is having a race on Sunday, and it's also a vintage round. I'm leading the vintage class in points. The race was moved today (because of rain) to my favorite track, 10 minutes from home. If I skip this race, I can kiss the championship goodbye . It is possible to get home from work tomorrow morning, load up, and be at the track with lots of time. I should be able to catch a few Z's throughout the day, but I still have to go in Sunday night.

Race it up and sleep monday. You won't be doing a big pull to get there so if you work ok on low sleep I'd go for it.

It seems to me you just posted the answer, so what was the question?

I'd disagree with everybody here....except that you're the points leader. That means you're actively participating and liking it (unlike, say, myself and autocross...but that's a separate issue.) Because you're current, enjoying it, and don't want to stop being class leader, you race. This should not be a question.

The only exception to this is if a lack of sleep could endanger people's lives at work the next evening. In that case, take the moral high ground.

I don't understand why folk ask questions here when they've already made up their minds what they're going to do

Well... I started to load up immediately after the original post. I figured it would be OK, but couldn't help but think of the expression "It seemed like a good idea at the time".

Went straight to the track from work, signed in, got a good pit, then went home to pick up the rest of my stuff. The track was awesome. It's been really dry here, but it rained hard Saurday, and the track soaked it right up and was super tacky. The only thing limiting your speed through the corners was the size of your balls I won both motos (lapping the second place guy in race one), and picked up some big points. I've had 7 hours sleep since Friday, and I'm posting this from work now. I'm really glad I decided to go.

Congrats on the wins and your impending zombie status.

And don't crash until you're home and in bed.

I've rarely found that sleeping is a good reason to miss doing anything, even though I love it oh so much. Glad you went out and raced!
