I never did get around to a build thread, because the bike just needs a few things, not a "build".
Today I was out to diagnose rear suspension squeakage. I unbolted the shocks and bounced the bike. No noise, so the swingarm isn't what's squeaking. Now I look to the shocks. Lookie here, the lower bushings are toast!
Now, if you want to change a similar bushing on a car, you need a press, or maybe a "hot wrench". Not here. An 11mm socket and some thumb pressure pushed out the center sleeve, and a 14mm socket and a shove against the garage floor pushed out the actual bushing.
Honda still sells them - for this 35-year-old bike. $4/ea online (plus shipping), $5.49 from the local dealer (Pay tax, but not shipping). They'll be here by Wednesday, and the bike will be back together in 1/2 hour.
It's as much fun to work on as it is to ride!!
