Apparently, the Nissan GT-R's stock 500-plus horsepower isn't enough for Kyle Carrick, who modified his 2015 GT-R to push out 750 horsepower–about 150 more horses than a brand-new NISMO GT-R.

But is all that power enough to move the 3850-pound combined weight of car and driver past the competition in the 2021 Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge?

What is the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge? It’s our annual no-holds-barred track competition. The rules are simple: Car and driver must pass a NASA safety inspection. Period.

Here’s a closer look at this week’s selections:

Kyle Carrick says his GT-R's biggest strength is the high speeds it's capable of when exiting corners and barreling down the straights. Besides that, the GT-R also features DSC coil-overs, extra downforce add-ons, lightweight subframes, AP brakes and sticky Hoosier A7 tires on all four corners.

Here to prove that old-school muscle cars can be the Ultimate Track Car is Mills Robinson’s 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. Power–all “550-ish” ponies–comes from a 6.6-liter LS V8 with a top end from an LS3 engine.

Entering the Ultimate Track Car Challenge for the first time, Matthew Lang is bringing an E90-chassis BMW with an added wide-body kit. The spec sheet shows that this Bimmer is powered by the naturally aspirated N52, though we think there’s more to it than that: Matthew notes that the engine features a “full race build.”

View these cars, along with the rest of the field, on the UTCC website. If you think you have what it takes to win, enter your car here.

The Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge is presented by Tire Rack in association with Wilwood EngineeringHP TunersSPA Technique, FCP EuroXClutch and KW Suspensions, with trophies from BimmerWorld, Mantic ClutchFalken TireHoosier Tire and Mach V Motorsports.
