The Auction for Our VW Fox Project Car Ends Tonight

The eBay Motors auction for our 1993 Volkswagen Fox budget racer, along with spares and a Golf parts car, ends today.

Having participated in both a 24 Hours of Lemons event at Barber and a ChampCar Endurance Series race at Daytona, we decided it was best to part ways with the VW so we can better focus on our V6 Miata and our LS-swapped 350Z.

The car is fully prepared to compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons, though it could be competitive in other inexpensive racing series. The auction started at only $0.99 but has gone up to—at the time of writing this—$1175.

The auction ends tonight at 9 p.m., so this is your last chance to bid and potentially win one of the greatest race cars ever assembled.

A reminder that Challenge registration has opened.

JUUUUST outside of challenge budget. I was commenting last night when it was at 1200 that there was more than 1200 in wing on the car. Not to mention everything else.

Whoever got this got a steal.

In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :

I was considering it for wing, wheels and seats. I know some VW peeps that could've used some of the suspension and brake bits, but I pretty much decided that I couldn't bring myself to strip it and didn't want to list the chassis as logbooked and ready for all the things for $500 and to have it sitting around forever, slowly turning to dust, waiting on someone with a rollback to come purchase it.

More like $100 for the wings (assuming each one is less than 30"), and I wouldn't be surprised if the mounts were only another $200 or so.

I don't understand... those sure look the width of the car (even the front one is mentioned to be for a miata, which I'm sure we can look up the width and price on NLR website), so I'm guessing those wings are more like 60-72 inches wide.

Even if you had a good way to connect them at the center, that's still $200-250 in cutoffs (assuming the front wing is 3 and the rear is 2 top 2 bottom). Before you get into End plates, mounts, and gurneys.

Huh.  Maybe a Fox is wider than I give them credit for.
