cool and good luck getting it done for the event and can not wait to see a video of you guys firing it up...and doing some testing with it on the kart track.
The Lincoln awaits.
Our car came with a three-speed shifter. We have a four-speed transmission. See where this is going?
Lights need wiring. We made our fuse panel from scratch.
It's going to go right here.
Ta-da, fuses. And don't worry, we'll go through the whole wiring job in the magazine.
The fuel cell is just about plumbed.
Custom. Totally.
And, as you can see, we're still eating healthy.
The fuel cell is now mounted and plumbed, and the water pump has a non-leaking gasket. So, will this beast come to life?
Another Lincoln work session, another night spent undoing past sins. We’re having fun, though, right?
We started with the shifter. We don’t have the budget to replace what’s already there, but we can at least clean and lube the one that came with the car. White lithium grease appears to do wonders.
It seems to be a three-speed shifter, which should work just fine with our four-speed AOD gearbox—we hope. (We’re actually hoping that this setup allows us to downshift into second.)
The linkage was severely kinked, but our solution was simple: Move the shifter back a few inches. To do so, we just had to drill some new holes.
The TV cable was also disconnected. We don’t claim to be automatic transmission experts, but we found some helpful videos online.
We also bolted the seat in place and installed the battery box. We found a Wink mirror and attached it to the cage. We’d like to eventually find some side-view mirrors.
Matt, our wiring expert, built a clean, low-buck fuse setup for our lights. Our lights may not be anything special, but we’d like for them to work.
The fuel cell is now mounted and plumbed, and the water pump has a non-leaking gasket. So, will this beast come to life?
