2006 Subaru Impreza STI

This STI was more than a build for me. It was a dream come true. After a very bad accident I needed something to occupy my mind during my long recovery. I started building this car in my head using my knowledge and experience from a lifetime of tinkering on cars as well as aircraft. Then came the build lists. When I finally got the chance to build the car I had a solid concept with a specific idea of the parts/mods I wanted to install. With the exception of the tune and alignment all work was performed by me with the help of my friends. It took a long time, but it came together. The car had some corrosion which didn’t sit well with me. I took care of it with a bead blaster and aerospace grade cadmium plating. While I had it apart I also had all the OE aluminum components anodized. My motto is anything worth doing is worth over doing. This car is built for STU class autocross, but I tried to keep NVH to a minimum so I can enjoy it on the street as well. All the bushings in the car were replaced with Group N save for a few spots where I used poly. The suspension consists of AST 4100’s and Whiteline swaybars. The brakes are slightly upgraded with SS lines, Project Mu pads, and two-piece rotors (in front). Power upgrades are limited in the class. The car does have a Killer B header. The 3” turbo-back by AVO is the quietest made at 86dB. I’m very happy with the way the build came out. My tuner and some of my friends call it the perfect “stock” STI. They also poke fun at my penchant for cleanliness.
