I like MEV's Sonic7, but not this. The exo thing doesn't work with the f/r drivetrain in my opinion. At least not how they did it.
I've seen this thing before, and my reaction is always a resounding "Meh."
There's so much you sacrifice by using Miata Control Arms.
I'm not entirely sold on the styling, but this is exactly in line what I've been looking for in a project car. Is this the kit which Keith referred to a few months back as being 'in development'?
More like a Locost and exo combined. Might another option for Miata's with extensive body damage though. Wouldn't sacrifice a decent one for this though.
I know the question:
What would happen if a Rubenesque locost and a Zaftig Atom got drunk at a party?
somehow I don't think this guy is enjoying his day as much as everyone behind him..
at least once he gets behind one of them....

Nope. But if you're a friend of Paco Motorsports on Facebook, you saw the CAD drawings of the monocoque of that project a few days ago!
The Exocet has, um, "challenging" styling. It's due to the constraints of trying to use as much of the Miata as possible, which gives some odd proportions. It would be interesting to poke around it and get an idea of how well it's engineered, as that would forgive it quite a bit.
I don't mind the styling. It's not beatiful, but it's better looking than a very rusty miata. I don't think I'll spend 6k on one, but I don't find the price unreasonable. I'd be curious to know if the 1400lb weight includesstock seats etc or if that was with a racing seat, small battery, superlight wheels.
Dear lord I really wish the at-om exoskeleton frame fad would die.
It isn't as light or as stiff as a traditional locost frame, The lack of windshield is frankly stupid and I am sure the extra wind drag from the now exposed roll cage and driver overcomes any potential improvements.
The exocet weighs ~1400 "depending on options" I can pretty much guarantee that is a stripped one.
Keiths car weighed in at 1275 didn't it?
Dunno where mine sits right now. It could be lighter, but it's definitely under 1300 lbs.
The advantage of the exoskeleton frame is that you have more room for peoples Although there's no reason you couldn't have a nice strong center tunnel in one. Oh, and people think it's an Atom. Which is the ultimate performance car for the YouTube demographic.
My beef with the At-om clones is that they manage to mix ugly, impractical and more expensive and wind up with less performance (for similar power to weight ratios) than the lowly 7 replicas.

I like it too. Wanted to use it for my body project, but it supposedly has a poor build quality and not the best suspension geometry. That was a couple of years ago, maybe it has be improved. Hope so.
