So, I have a line on a potential build. A whole yard/pasture full of cars that are offered free. One such is a '71 Pinto.
In regards to this rule, it states:
Brake friction materials, lines, calipers, master cylinders, boosters, rotors and drums may be replaced with fresh ones that are duplicates or stock replacements without increasing or decreasing the budget.
So, I go to a RockAuto or somewhere and get all new stuff and can take it at $0.
BUT! there is also this....
if non-OEM front and/or rear subframes/axles/hubs/knuckles are used, the year, make, model, and trim of the donor vehicle listed as an application in a major parts catalog. This rule does allow adding stock replacement brake parts to a car that did not come with any at the time of sale.
This is very much a good thing potentially. The other year I purchased an RX8 from a friend non-running for the princely sum of $1200, sold the interior for $250, the engine and Computer for $400, the Diff $100, Shell for $150, trans for $150, Some part off the engine *legit do not remember, guy came by gave me $50 for the thing*, Wheels/Tires for $150. I have this suspension for free then.
That would mean that I could use this suspension and replace the factory stuff for no increase in budget then. Right?
Yes, that is correct. We really, really, really want you to have working brakes.
In reply to Thinkkker :
One problem. You can't recoup more than $1000 so that RX8 suspension cost you $200.
Also is that pasture of cars freely available to anyone? If not you would have to FMV the car.
Edit: Stampie beat me to it.
Did someone say pasture full of cars...
I'm here for this.

And frictionless?
I'M EVEN MORE INTERESTED NOW
Come on guys, the cows aren't frictionless. Initial input is going to be high tk move, then the friction drops to very nill....almost negative.

So, um. Where are these, and can I grab a '70s F-series for a hat-car?
F100 are spoken for, there is a Chevy Square Body, and a early 60's Chevy and Apache.
Near La Grange, address is Fayettville, TX.
