Blah. I had one of these, a '93 XR2 that I bought in '95. It was the third-worst car I have ever owned. I remember a C&D or a R&T article from the mid-90s where they compared a Miata to a Capri. In the beginning of the article they mentioned that the cars weren't "in the same class," but did a comparo anyway. They ended the article by stating the Miata and the Capri were certainly not in the same class.
Made in Australia from Mazda 323 running gear and floor, it was cut to ribbons by the accountants from the intended car, then rushed into production.
Last ones, turbo, were better but the damage was done

That is so tempting it's unholy. GTX drivetrain swap ftw.
That car needs a lot of work to be made AWD. I had a non-turbo ver and it was a fun car. Handled pretty well.
No way that car is worth that much, buy it for $700 pull the engine, drop it into a festiva, then sell all the rest of the parts to other capri owners that have had their parts fall off or break which is to say most of the rest of the car....LOL
Great engine and tranny the rest of the car is junkola. Chris Rummel
I purchased 2 trashed XR2 parts cars for $100 each when I was building the Miata a few years ago. I was able to keep the engines from both and part the rest out for a bit over a grand. There are some valuable parts to be found in them that can be used by other Capri owners.
I've had 2 of these cars both being '91's. Early cars suffered the crank snout issue like the Miata. The first car I got as a graduation gift from my mom. It had 90k miles 1 owner and garage kept. I had that car for 6 years and only had to replace the transmission and clutch. It was mint and had every option. The 2nd one was ratty and my dad gave it to me. It had a bodykit on it and needed paint. I sold it when i got the 3000GT VR-4. Reliable car if maintained, though parts are hard to get now.
