I am trying to come up for a FMV for my 190e sportline shift knob, the plan is to swap engine and trans for the challenge. So I won't be using the sportline knob in the challenge. But since they only brought limited numbers of these to the states, I am having trouble coming up with enough sources for a FMV. Only thing I have found is this completed eBay sale.

Looks like according to the rules I need 3 sources to document FMV. What happens if I can't find 3 sources for a rare item like this?
A copy of a GRM message board thread where at least 5 users with more than 50 posts have agreed with a proposed fair market value for your item.
What is your proposed FMV that you'd like us to agree to? Hint more likely to get agreement if you slightly low ball yourself.
EDIT and maybe a picture showing the condition of yours?
I can't imagine a shift knob needs a FMV.

It sounds like he's trying to FMV a rare part to self sell for recovery.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Correct. Trying to sell to self. The one in the eBay ad sold for 179.99, mine is in a little worse shape.
I was thinking about valuing mine around $80 but didn't know if that was too much.

Was that auction you listed above a sell or no sale but ended? Is $80 your asking price? Would you regreat selling it for $80 if someone said Hey I'll take that!
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
I think it was an actual completed sale on eBay. I would not want to sell it for $80. Since I am selling to myself, I didn't want to be a dick and sell it to myself for too much. Since it is not quite as nice as the eBay listing.
I'm good with your $80. Now get others to agree.
I'm good with $80; I bet you could easily get that if you listed it on eBay.
Unless it's made out of a unicorn horn, sure looks like a $5 part to me.
It's a shift knob after all.
But if you want to claim $80, that's cool too.
They are pretty pricey, I have seen them sell for that.
