Not to go too far off topic, but can someone post a link to the rules where I can find the classes, prep required, etc. I've searched around and I feel like this must be the most poorly documented form of amateur racing out there.
Bonneville is on my bucket list as well. I just want to run something there, but god damn it feels like figuring out how is the biggest hurdle.

there are a lot of us that plan to attend the Wilmington Ohio races...perhaps it can turn from a meet and greet to a worlds largest land speed race crew. If you want to put something together, Im sure theres more than enough of us willing to help!

And apparently they are truly broken now.

Salt flats are a party and I want the berkeley in!
I'll start a new thread... don't want to turn this one into a mess. 240 build looks pretty interesting though.
ProDarwin-- http://www.scta-bni.org/ Click 'Need Rulebook' on the left. ECTA has them available at http://www.ecta-lsr.com/
They're almost identical, but have minor differences.
Salt Party sounds like a blast, or Ohio Mile party, or both!
I'll let you allow this thread to get back on topic now, and I'll help by posting that I'm going to go order a transmission and seat for this car!

Questions sent to tech commitee on my seat choice. They like aluminum seats and require prior approval before use of any composite seat, like the Sparco PRO ADV or Circuit series which is what I'm looking at. They're both FIA homologated and should be approved, just waiting to hear back.
I did get the trans ordered today, it's being built and will be here just in time for Christmas ;).

What are you doing to increase the caster? I have heard that land speed cars will run HUGE (e.g.15-20 degrees) amounts of caster to help keep them straight
You're right, and we're working that out with Chad at Fat Cat who has to build it ;). We may actually cut out and fab new boxes for the struts to bolt into that are rotated close to 15deg back. I've asked if he can allow for some adjustability so I can play with it. 10/15/20 degrees would be nice to play with.
0 Camber
A little toe in, 1/16" to 1/8"
0 Scrub Radius
Weight distribution 51% front, 49% rear, that's fully loaded with driver/gear/fluids. right-left should be as close to even as possible.
So what classes are you going to run with this car?
In reply to Zomby woof:
F/GC is the current target. Record was at 107mph until this past August, when another car went after the record for the first time in years and raised it to 162mph, I'm not sure if they're going to keep coming after it or not, I'm guessing they likely will. Believe it or not, it's another S13 240sx. Used to run in a different class and was running a 40's/50's Buick Straight 8. I had looked the car over before, knowing I was thinking of building a 240sx.
This year though they switched to running half a V8, just one bank of 4 cylinders to get under the displacement limit for the F motor class which is 3.014 liters. I think it's a Cup car engine from what I've been able to find.
Was hoping to chase an open and soft record, looks like we might be up against these guys now though, and they've got a stack of records and have been out there for years. We'll see how it goes.
If they don't step it up again, that 162mph record is still reasonably soft and I think we'll get it. If they bump it up though, who knows?
Later plans include making a few minor changes to jump around to different F-engine classes... there are several records we can go after with only minor changes. Some in the 172-175 range, and others in the 202 range (on fuel, which would allow us to run any fuel we want, plus nitrous).
Then down the road a bit... a 2JZ-GTE will be nice and comfortable under the hood of this thing. And serious power is not a problem with that motor...
I still have the I/PS record from 04, but a bunch of records have been set all around it. I still have the car, and might just have to resurrect it and take run at those records now that the events are so close to home. I'm prepping a bike to go after the P/P-125/4, and expect to run Ohio this year for sure.
Some pictures of the engine and trans are up:
Got a (currently stock) 2JZ being used to mock things up, and a G-Force four speed behind it.
