At-work update!
Found a very solid '61 Husky for sale in Texas for $1500. That would make it a Series II (mine is a series III), but aside from dash, windscreen, and headlight/taillight differences, I think they're pretty well identical. Would be a huge boon to my parts supply (might just be a better base, actually) if I could get it.
Spares! I want them! Still waiting to hear back from the seller, but fingers crossed. If nothing else, maybe he'll part it out so I could nab that hood and the wicked luggage rack...
Where is it in Texas? It looks like the green part of Texas but I can't believe one of those would survive anywhere but the brown part.
Great find on that second Hillman ! Buy it for sure, you can always sell the shell after you've yoinked what you need off of it. They make neat hot rods/fake gassers.
"Depending on how original you're trying to say, I'll throw out the suggestion of a full fiberglass floor."
X2. Planning on doing one up for my MGA to replace the stock wooden floor panels. Look to the TVR if you doubt the strength and utility.
Although fiberglass will only work on a separate frame/body car, isn't the later Hillman a semi-unibody as the earlier ones are? If so, then you'll need to keep things all metal and well reinforced as it was from the factory, or even more so depending on the drive train that you choose.
Todd (Kishbach) did the new floors on Bruce's Hillman, right down to the strengthening ribs, as-stock, and it looks perfect but is of thicker metal than original. A perfect upgrade.

It is (was) in Houston, but unfortunately was sold last night before I could make any arrangements with the seller. The buyer is going to put a sport bike motor in it apparently.

You're right. Guess I'm back to looking for donor floorpans.

Sounds great. Any links to builds/contact info on this would be appreciated.
