Haha, I'm only 15. I greatly admire your fleet. How's the Volvo coming along?
Just a quick update on the Cutlass.
1: I found someone to weld in the frame rail. (Take it easy, Zomby Woof).
2: I sprayed two coats of filler primer on a rim, and I'll be sanding that down tomorrow in prep for paint.
3: The plate bracket that I picked up is coming along great. Just a coat of paint, and it'll be mint.
The madness will continue when I get back from Kelowna in two weeks.
Hows the car going? I thought about your endeavors earlier today when I passed the shop down the street from my house has two monte carlo ss. One seems to be for parts but both have the good looking factory wheels.

Wife unit always said that since I make a great bad influence, I am not totally useless, so there ya go. Offer to come visit stands.
Volvo is coming along quite well. If you do visit I will force you to learn to weld.

That sounds great!

They look pretty good from here! Looks like it might be a PITA masking everything off.

All the chrome bits come off. It's just a quick disassembly, a lot of sanding, a few coats of filler primer, and paint. For under $150 including the rims and tires, it's not too bad.
Looks plenty good to me. Though you talk as though you plan on using those tires, they look kinda old, like "tend to look fine but blowout at random on the freeway" old. Check the date codes.
In reply to Kenny_McCormic:
The tires are 8 years old, but have decent tread and aren't dry-rotted. I figure I'll use them to get up to the local car show a couple of times this year, then replace them next year.
Sounds like a solid plan. 8 years isn't too bad if they still look ok. They really can look nice with no cracking around and just come apart though, I've seen it happen.
In reply to Kenny_McCormic:
I have, too. Mind you, I've seen people bend Volk and AC Schnitzer rims by going over potholes at modest speed, so who knows what will happen.
Good news, everyone! The Cutlass is getting hauled up on Tuesday for frame rail replacement. Within a few weeks, I'll have it on the road!
The Cutlass has successfully made it to my mechanic in Rockwood. Here is the last pic of it in Stoney Creek. Guess it's time for me to update my location to Guelph.
I just paid $28.50 for a can of spray paint for my car
Still cheaper than having it shipped up from the US .
I just read this thread all the way through- not sure how I missed it before.
But mostly, confused as to how its' made it 8 pages without this: Supreme!

Thanks. This is the first time in years that I've had my daily dose of vitamin TD
I finished restoring all four rims yesterday. Soon they will be on the car. Don't worry, I'm getting new tires before the possible cross-country trip.
While I put new cork valve cover gaskets on the Cutlass, I'm power-washing them and then painting them. I've chosen the paint based on it's hi-temp rating, and awesome finish.
Don't reassemble them until you watch the valves dance while you're cranking with no ignition. We want to see some video, too. A lot can be told from there.
In reply to tuna55: I'll unplug the HEI coil and see if all the valves work. Should I be concerned about the 305 spitting oil in my face?

Not at cranking speed. You should see oil coming up, but it won't be violent. Take some video of each head.
You'll need to log in to post.
