Great job Kevin! I wish I could say my weekend was that good!

And a quick clip of the car going by check 2 at Burke. Not much build stuff lately in this build thread I've mostly just been racing the car and not working on it which is nice.

Nice picture and video clip. I know where your coming from about little work and a lot of racing. Keep knocking down.

I was looking through Racingjunk.com today and saw a few Troyers for sale. What's your thoughts about using a midget asphalt sprint car. One that runs a motorcycle motor. Years ago I was involved in building some of them. I'll admit I'm just thinking out loud, because I'm way to deep into my Mustang at this point. Here is a video of me doing the cone shuffle in Toledo, OH.

Video looks like fun. How can you keep track of where to go in that sea of cones?

I bet a motorcycle powered midget asphalt sprint car would be a blast. It's all about finding something that speaks to you. The modified works for me but at the event I might be lined up between a new Corvette and a vintage VW Bug. Each guy is happy with his choice and having fun. I mean it is nice that my car is competitive now but I drove this car and the previous modified for years never winning anything. I like the style. It speaks to me.

Very nice. So what happened to Mr Max this week?

In reply to KevinGale:

Man more I watch your videos the more I want to come give it a go! Love the sound of the car. I need to try to get sound from mine.

Car comfort is why I went to a Mustang. I knew a lot about them and always loved the new edge body style. But I'm always looking at other vehicle styles and wondering what if!

To answer your question about getting lost in the cones. The course is set up before hand (usealy that morning) and open to walk. They also out line the course for some guidance and use pointer cones. After a few weekends of doing it, it's pretty easy to see the course as you go even if you don't get a chance to walk it. But there are those that do get lost. Nice about this is if we get lost we don't have to worry about trees and bears!

Mr Max? The Mad Max Dart was there or are you referring to the Super Chicken? He couldn't make it. Work conflict.

We have had bears in the road. Haven't lost any racers yet.

Ah. I got confused. It was Mr Chicken that kept you from an FTD in the last event. In that last video, the acceleration rate looks absolutely brutal. maybe it's the close proximity of the trees to the track but it looks like the Millennium Falcon shifting into hyperspace.

I've been told if you still have all your teeth then you can't work on one of these.

Yeah I posted earlier in this thread a picture of a street legal Pinto bodied modified. There is even a facebook group for street legal stock cars. Street Legal Oval Track Cars Facebook Group

Well I guess I can still turn the screws then! I'm missing a few old teeth. Last one I messed with was on an 85 Mustang years ago.

At Burke the guys in tech noticed I had some play in steering on the right side. It wasn't bad enough to fail tech and I ran with it but tonight I pulled it apart. This is the steering rod. The heim joints on both ends had some play. The high misalignment one (far one) had the most. I had a replacement for that but I didn't have the regular heim on the other end. Must have used the last one and forgot to stock up. So order placed.

Maybe but these are just standard stock car parts. Threaded aluminum tube available in about any length you want and two heim joint rod ends. The only slightly special part is the heim that allows a higher degree of misalignment (more range of motion). I need the extra range to get more suspension travel. But even that is a off the shelf part.

One of the nice things about stock cars is the parts are for the most part cheap. Not long ago someone posted the something similar to this piece for an EVO. I think it was a rear suspension arm. The EVO part was more than $200. Myself and some other guys looked at it and said the stock car equivalent was about $30. I'm not saying that everything stock car is better and cheaper because that is total nonsense. But the speed per dollar value for my car is much higher than an EVO or pretty much any sports car. Although there are lots of times I would kill for all wheel drive. :-)

I stumbled onto your build a few months ago, and just now again - love it. heavily considered making a vintage modified street legal and for road course... maybe some day in the future but in the mean time I'll just live vicariously through this

That can probably be arranged, the engine being behind the front suspension.

Yes it is well behind. Anything is possible, few things actually happen. :-)
