Yeah we were laughing about that. Dude yesterday said he could pull the engine in an hour. My brain said naw so we offered to come back today and grab it. This morning he said 5:30pm. Then this afternoon he pushed it to next weekend.

So I'll tell a story. Lil Stampie wants to go faster than a 1.6 NA Miata. Other day he asked if he could do mods to get the Miata to the Power Weight ratio of the BMW 330Ci. In my head I thought I don't think that's as good as he does. We got home and I looked up the BMW specs. Walked into his room and said yep you can do that no problem. Him being my son and knowing me replied "It's worse isn't it?" No but now he can go to 131hp and be as fast as a 1.8 NA Miata.
In reply to TVR Scott : probably gonna paint it white, i wanna build a car with a good ratio of form to function so im gonna go in & clean everything tuck the wires and hopefully paint the engine bay. but yes definitely makes it faster
got the engine on a stand yesterday & started going through it, there was water in 1&4 coils and more in the head. i dont think it got into the cylinder though it still spins over freely
all of the liquid that you see pooled up is water
i then decided to paint my old valve cover, it turned out pretty good could use a few more coats though

You should get a couple sets of these and use them to fill in the lettering up there. https://smile.amazon.com/Syringe-Bottle-15Pcs-Dispensing-Needles/dp/B07S1S1HMG/
In reply to Stampie :
Six of one. I find those little bottles a lot more forgiving than wiping off paint, though.

Was just thinking it'd be kinda cool to make inserts so that the lettering is raised instead of lower than the surface.
Edit - Or fill them and bondo them smooth.
decided to get back to working on this thing in the next few weeks, got started today by repairing the wiring harness that was messed up.
moved the car over to the concrete today to pull the trans
after we disconnected everything & started dropping the trans we did not expect the bellhousing catch & drain all of the oil onto the ground😂
well next time i pull a trans im draining the oil first..
My suggestion for the valve cover lettering: Fill the letters almost to the top with potting epoxy. Usually it's black but other colors are available. This will keep dirt from getting trapped in the letters and give them a contrasting color at the same time.
ive made a ton of progress this week, after i got the trans out i went to mount it to the engine & found that i had misplaced some of the bolts. so after a run to ace we got that on..
the next step was to prep the car, started by taking off the bumber & hood... after battling with a couple rounded bolts that was complete
then had to fix the bullet connections on the trans because i ripped on out
and now on to the fun part.. getting the engine in
it all started pretty rough, while blowing up the wheels on our engine cart i made a little oopsie & made the engine fall off of the cart. unfortunately i forgot to take pics before i got it back on
after that we hauled the engine & trans over to the car & got to work
now at this point we where debating on several approaches to get the engine mounts mounted.
1 was to bolt the trans first & hope it lined the engine mounts up
2 was bolt the engine mounts to the subframe then lower the engine into place
3 was to drop it in with the mounts on the engine
#3 looked & made the most sense so we went with that, after struggling to get the stud to go in the hole i finally got the right engine mount loosely on there.. from there it was only a little shake to get the left side in & boom we have an engine!

Nice work .
Now tell your Dad to hurry up and finish building the Grosh so you guys can get these cars out of the elements:

Why is your Miata stuff in in my K30? Ok I admit that lowest trim panel is my Miata stuff in my K30 but notice both are "my".
I posted that 3Dec22. About six months later the K30 got moved to Gainesville. Last week someone remembered where they left their parts so today we went and grabbed them.
started getting the drive line back together today, was having trouble getting the front two ppf bolts to align on the top.
after bending a screwdriver & smacking my elbow prying it i tried to wedge in between the trans tunnel & the top of the ppf which worked perfectly!
i then got the driveshaft in with no issue & called it a day
now all thats left is:
-put on shift tower
-get starter on
-replace slave cylinder
-connect wiring
and propably a couple small things im forgetting, we're getting closer!
replaced the clutch slave & put the starter back on today
the starter took alot of finesse to get in. i didnt want to take the whole intake off so i just took the brace that goes from the bottom of the block to the intake. i slipped the starter between the 1&2 intake tube thing with the solenoid facing up & it just barely fit😂
also made a complete to do list
