I love these wheels. It's so stupid because they are very pricey for an aluminum steel lookalike, but I'm still torn about using these or refinishing the daisy's. (I'm obviously very tired of F'ing with my VW).
Another great note- got the shipping notice from dutchman! I expect the axles by Tuesday.

Dreading the header build. I've got 1.75 J bent ss 304 mandrels and a faint idea. Then I went on Ebay and saw this, from CX racing, and it's givin me a powerful urge to be really lazy.
Does not appear to be equal length by any stretch of the imagination. The shape is actually really close to what I was planning, with the exception that mine would be 4/2/1. At a minimum I'll use it for a little inspiration.
I'm not going to be lazy. Got out the tig wire and mocked up a start. Need some more primary tubing so that's on order. 
Where are those gray pepperpot wheels from? They do look cool.
Your exhaust welding work looks very pretty from here.
One tube mocked up. Blasted through two of my bends. May need to order many more.

Got a package from Dutchman today!!!
Pretty quick service all in all, and they look great to me.
Assembling them took waaay longer than it should have (because I am an amateur, and loathe snap rings with every fiber of my being), but got them put together. Interesting that instead of machining a step in the axle, they did a continuous taper. No real negatives, just interesting- probably set up a taper on a lathe and let it run.
Pretty something to do.with stress risers and strength.
Ill wait for the engineers to say for certain though.
Couldnt resist dropping them in. Don't know if they need to be painted so have an email in about that. I suspect they have a fair amount of chrome content (probably 4340?) so I doubt they do. Went in way easier than I expected. And seem to fit nicely. Whew.
Those axles are so awesome. Definitely going to check out Dutchman when I get around to doing an IRS swap. Seems like a great alternative to just rolling up to DSS with a wheelbarrow full of cash.
I didn't think the outer CVs came apart. I'm going to have to give Dutchman a call see did they can marry Audi and Miata splines.

I definitely give them thumbs up. Great service and quick. Already got back to me on the axles regarding paint- he recommends painting them. bummer. I'll get them back out when I take everything apart again for paint.
Re: outer CV's- once I figured out the trick, they came apart pretty easily. First- you just have to yank them real hard to get the shaft separated from the joint. There's just a C-clip holding the six-lobed thingy to the shaft. The next part had me scratching my head for a little bit. Now that you have the joint in hand, you hammer (with a stick of wood or what have you) one of the ball ends of the lobed thing all the way toward the center of the joint- it will expose the opposite ball. You pull that ball out and work your way around the cage. When you've got all the balls out, the cage and lobed thing are just hanging in there. One of the "windows" that the balls are held in, is slightly different shape than the rest. Turn the cage vertical, and move that "window" to line up with the narrowed opening, and it comes right out. Same procedure to get the lobed thing out of the cage.
I wish I had taken pictures. The second one came apart much more quickly. But the grease, oh how I loathe the grease.
More header work. 1,2, and 4 are pretty close- 24". 3 is 15, but I've got a plan to make it longer (that's what she said?).
Well they are all now very nearly exactly 24". Lots of puzzling today. Secondaries aren't as pretty as I'd like them, maybe should have just run a 4/1 system since I sorta set it up that way anyway. Oh well.

Does the length your shooting for on the primaries account for head loss through bends, or is it just overall length?
Just length. I can't be too picky and am already a dude who overthinks everything and then doesn't actually translate all my plans into metal. Length will have to do.
Finally some small progress. I procrastinate so much on certain things because I just don't want to screw them up.
finally got the header tacked together. Will hopefully get it all tig'ed by cob Thursday.
