Feel like this has happened once already
i bought back the z32 less the engine/trans/interior/lights. He left all the new suspension and brake parts, tons of extras, half his immaculate brown/tan interior including a crack free dash, better t tops than it left with, and some of the extras that I tossed in when it sold. Will be parting it out and scrapping what's left.
also bought a honda dream that is slightly more nightmare and will probably have to part that over the winter to get my money back and make a little.
getting back on track on ebay listing consistently, working through the backlog, and stocking stuff in an organized manner so when something sells I just need to tape it up and send it out.
definitely want to find the right home for the 57 chevy that isn't my home. Have yet to sell the virago or the 3 wheeler even though they've been replaced. Have my sister's old buddy 125 up at the cabin and my dad's old dirtbike is mine now and waiting for me to clean the carb.
Quick work!! Those are still such good looking cars
It's gone to the big scrapyard in the sky. Actually it's at reed's salvage and probably crushed and on their mountain of scrap. I got complemented on just how far I stripped it, so I've got that going for me.
Also of note: sold the ridgeline for a $50 profit to a junk car buyer guy.
Ebay store firing on more cylinders. Sales doing well, got upgraded to top seller and with that I'm now allowed 5 million listings or dollars in sales a month, which while cool, will not happen ever. It's nice to know I won't have to pay to get more listings or sales though. Consistently sending out around 15 packages a week, this week 11 have already gone out. still playing catch up but have around 160 listings and still probably 100 things to list and more coming every week so I set a goal to average 10 new listings per day 5 days a week.
also dragged this home sunday from dculberson. Had a nice day, hung out and had lunch and Abby played with his daughters the whole time. 100/10 vehicle purchase experience.
tomorrow evening I'm picking up a white southern rust free hood for it. The core support looks ok, may need a tug on the left down low. the hood latch mount got bent and that's what sucked the hood under. I am keeping an eye out for another left fender but it looks resprayed in the factory color so I should be able to fix the fender if I don't find one and respray it and the door after fixing the leading edge. Have trim rings for the wheels, 94-98 mirrors, and I'll have to decide if it gets the work truck grill or the silverado one. It may go to my uncle as his 96 olds cutlass ciera got obliterated from behind last week.
also excited because looooonnnngggg time forum member mazdax605 is swinging by tomorrow night or thursday morning. He's coming to pick up the suspension from the Z32 for a friend on a discord server with both of us. The Z32 once again has proven profitable and has been squished and I got $43 for the shell. Woof, there are times it would have been closer to $200.
put new steps on the truck last week. Had to cut the hardware to get the old ones off but the rockers are still solid. I hosed them inside and out as well as all the mounting bits for the steps and everything i could get to with fluid film again. That's the only reason my 8 year old ohio truck doesn't have any holes. Have a little on each rear wheel arch to repair then cover with factory style flares. The plan is to fix the 2 bigger dents and spray the bottom and the flares in silver like the factory 2 tones. My silver cap will blend in better too.
hood acquired off craigslist for fifty bucks
Glad to see the Avalon still kicking ass and taking names!
It's like a sewing machine. Due for an oil change, need to order a filter so i can knock it out before it gets cold. Best "free" car I've ever been given
chris aka mazdax605? Good dude. He was going from MA to MI and back for a mazda rotary pickup bed for his son's truck and stopped by to take the Z32 brakes and suspension back up there for me.
core support was pushed in a little and the hood latch brace was bent inward. Put strap around a stump and used the ratchet to bring all that back into the right planes. That fixed the door gap to the driver's fender. Think I can save the fender if I take the inner out and use a bladder against the side of the cowl to push it back out.
Truckdate: the pull job on the core support worked just right. Grill is repaired and back on. I got a little impatient and used a pry bar to get the fender back even with the door and did a little extra damage to the leading edge of the door, but it was berkeleyed up already. I am debating fixing it nicer and doing some fill and paint but also contemplating just rattle canning the hood white and calling it done. The temptation to do perfect work when good enough is what is called for is hard to resist. My initial intent for this truck was for my uncle who got blasted from behind in his 96 oldsmobile cutlass ciera but in the mean time of me tinkering he got antsy and bought an 03 caddy deville, so I am currently fixing a truck I do not need and my uncle doesn't need it now either. Will probably just finish it to whatever feels good at the time and move it along to someone who needs a good solid truck that's never going to be more than a good solid old work truck.
slower than a ninja edit: just ordered tires
Make it nicer than "some monkey got impatient and used a pry bar" wins out. Did a little hammer and dolly work and sanded it back and hit it with a coat of filler.
grill looking solid after sitting a week in the sun, it's gone about 95% back and that's good enough for me. We have 2 grills but both are for composite headlamps, not the work truck grill.
factory tow hook on the ground is from my old 3500, going to install them just to get them out of my garage
Progression
temporary coat of spray can to protect, going to get a quart for the hood and this repair and just do the whole fender and door below the window trim. Definitely not a full blend job worthy truck, but deserves better than a rattle can that isn't the proper shade
In reply to Patrick :
I just love it when people say there is only one shade of black or white.
I gave up trying for color matches for my first RX-7 and just started using Wimbledon White for repairs, which is a creamier color than Arctic White or whatever color the Mazda was. But I like Wimbledon White...
Yeah just for E36 M3s last night I shot some rustoleum industrial white on the repair in the dark and I can not tell much if any shade difference now in the sun. Might just get a quart of that and thin/harden/spray because if I can't see l the difference and I know where the lines are then that's honestly probably a better match than using the factory color code on a truck that's already been repainted *probably* the factory color
Getting some paint delievered today for the truck then hopefully tomorrow I can tackle that and get the hood on.
I have been doing a lot of soul searching and the 57 does need to go, along with the two H mod cars(but I will probably restore them because that's part of my retirement plan) and probably the sand rail plus the Virago and the 225dx. I don't want this many cars anymore I can't keep up with maintenance on dailies let alone a fleet of toys. I need 1 skyline, 1 54 belair, 1 wartburg, 1 chevelle, and one (top secret future challenge car) and that's it plus the couple bikes. Contemplating selling my yamaha grizzly also. I feel a big purge coming.
In reply to Patrick :
I don't blame you at all. I'm younger and I've already been feeling similar feelings with my fleet. The impending list of maintenance and projects is a lot of weight to bear, even when they're cool, fun projects.
Dude it sucks. I just finally hit my point of "you have too much E36 M3" I have a 2000 square foot garage and it's quite full. Granted I took 2 whole parking spots for inventory and listing area for my ebay store. I have tried to buy 2 sheds so far and one never shipped and the other got destroyed and sent back by the carrier.
Yeah I get it. Although I miss my Saabs and was bummed that I was not the one to get the wagon back on the road, its really nice to have some garage and driveway real estate back. Still minimal room for activities, but getting better.
I made up a to do list in my note app, even small stuff like 'winterize pressure washer' look more satisfying when crossed off.
And, damn, WTF with the sheds?!!
Ugh, I try to scroll past the white truck content because I dont need a rust free basic truck, and have poor impulse control.
That looks really good!
scrub the tires, paint the rims black, call it good.
2 new tires, they're bad up front and one let the air out. Will definitely hit the wheels with fresh black and some trim rings. Goal is done next week
