Heading to the autocross!
Car survived the autocross unscathed. I finished mid pack which makes me happy considering the car is on 340 treadwear tires and I am a little rusty autocross wise.
I need to wrap up some details but mechanically I am calling her done.
Added some electrical tape over the cracked t-top trim.
Got a good portion of the engine bat painted.
So I was going to install a set of B16 SE-R seats that I found in the junkyard. I picked them up for $29.00 each.
Obviously the frames are completely incompatible. I was hoping that the upper frame from the b17 seat could be attached to the NX2000 lower. After dismantling the B17 seat it became clear that it would not be that easy.
So the B17 seats are going to be a pass for the challenge, however the swap should be possible with a set of b13 SE-R seats as a starting point.
I checked out the autocross results. I ended up 20th out of 42 pax. And 26th raw time. I am completely happy with that!
Was it worth the $30 budget hit for two emblems? I think so it's the details that separate a good enough build from a winning one...
48.7 in the autocross and 15.7 in the quarter. Happy with the performance so far... only hiccup was a leaking power steering hose.
We are in the hunt for Gastropod, we will see how we fare tomorrow with the concourse.
The NX ended up 4th in Gastropod behind, the 2 Jaguars and the newer Sentra SE-R. We were 29th overall. Thank you gameboy and Tod and Ted for pitching in as usual.
I couldn't be happier with the car and got a ton of positive feedback from everyone who saw it.
It blew out a power steering hose at the end of the autocross so I will be ordering a replacement shortly.
Suprisingly for me I actually registered it and may hang on to it for a bit...
I'll do some digging, but I believe that there's a manual rack option out there for the B13 chassis.
A manual rack would likely be slower. Try Sentra E or NX1600??
On my B13 Sentra, I had problems over-working the powersteering fluid in autocross. I ran synthetic power steering fluid in it (or it might have been synthetic ATF, I don't remember), but the next level fix would be a bigger reserviour so you don't run out of fluid.
I liked the speed of the power rack, but I was coming from a 1986 Honda Civic 1500S at the time....
