It really wasn't too bad. Ford, Chevy and Dodge all.usrd this axle parts where in stock other than the axle nut. About $100 in parts, grease and brake clean.

I'd rather do hand packed 4x4 bearings than fight rusted in cartridge hubs any day of the week.

Yeah wasn't bad, once I figured out the parts! Lol probably 6 hours in it total
Have another big trip coming up. So, I wired in a fused power with a switch for the generator. I didnt find time to drop it out yet. Have to go outside to start it, but at least its operable.
And started switching the lights over to LED. They are fluorescent, and are two 15W tubes in each. I pulled the tubes, hacked the wires going to the transformer and put some 5630 SMD strips in. I orginally got some "white" they were like operating room sterile color, so I ordered a couple rolls of "warm white" much much better. A little pink compareed to the tubes, but should be good.
and with the oh so interesting picture:
Woohoo! Always wanted to ride up there. How do you like the LEDs? We swapped out the fixture in my wife's office for an led and I was shocked at the difference in light. Thinking about a pair for the front of the snowcat.
I just read your rant about gieco. . . I got the same run around from progressive because my fuel pump decided to die in a very remote part of Utah once. That was the one and only time I've ever asked an insurance company to make good on roadside coverage and they acted like a puppy who lost his way. (Middle of a sunny warm weekend I might add) Now days I just carry tools, spares and fully expect to be on my own in this world, fully knowing that the dude who shows up to "help" is probably an incompetent boob who hates his job and will likely make matters worse just like your wheels.
I hate being the negatron a-hole with a bleek view of the world, but the world has left me no choice. -endrant-

Leds are good, nice warm light. Use just a little less wattage, but Im hoping not having the transformer stepping 12v to 3kv should help.
Yeah Geico was a huge pain. Im just glad I caught it before the wheels came all the way off.... In the end they did pay out, but I now have non matching wheels....
Long photo dump warning!
Since we were unable to make my friends “Skifari” Trip, we did our own little powder highway trip through BC. The mountains were Schweitzer, Red mountain, Whitewater, Revelstoke, and Sun Peaks.
We started in Idaho at Schweitzer. Good coverage, but the new snow that had fallen was really heavy.
Schweitzer
Looking to be a good morning. But it was just too warm.
Off to Canada!
Red Mountain.
Woke up to lots of bombing!
Great day of skiing, Huge mountain and good snow.
At Whitewater, awesome little mountain. Parking lot was at 5200’, just two double fixed grip lifts, but great snow and no lines.
Heading out of whitewater. Rest day, and off to Revelstoke!
Inland BC Ferries are awesome! Free, and the Canadians aren’t Bob Costas. 10% grade (literally off the road sign) down to the ferry ramp with no gates, no barriers, if you drive off its your own damn fault. Love it. Waiting for the boat.
Light turn green, drive down. Simple, no gates, no barriers.
The Revelstoke lot was a bit muddy….. I thought I was going to be stuck for a few seconds….
But the skiing was awesome!
The chute we were heading down got a little tight however….
Hooray for Pow!
Next up was sun peaks.
Nice morning
And dumping afternoon!
Last night out….
Headed out for another week of skiing!
Lunch stop at Warm Springs.
Made it to the mountain!
Stormy! Lots of wind and snow the first day, ended up with 11"
Storm makes for good skiing though
Cleared up the next couple of days!
Another awesome trip in the books. Did Schweitzer, Red Mountain and Whitewater.
Parked with the other ski bum buddies at Schweitzer
The Normal evening for us.
Kiddo had fun
At Red mountain
Really foggy but found some serious steep! Pics dont do it much justic, but look at the angle of the trees!
Above the fog
We parted ways with our friends here and continued up to Whitewater.
Show up after everyone leaves and you get front row parking the next morning!
Gorgeous area top ski trees with the munchkin!
My lovely wife leading the way
8 year old killing it! She wanted to do laps down this run all afternoon
Love this place
Last night outside Spokane
And so ends our journey. Leaving on her next adventure without me.
I hope the new owners family has as much fun and as many adventures as we did. Its been a great truck for us. It was REALLY sad to see it drive off like that. Im sure she will be loved.
I have a hard time letting cars go but when you are on to bigger and better things (as you most definitely are) its a little easier.
