most of the cage is in paint now. only areas unpainted are in the vicinity of the ongoing b-pillar / fuel tank sheet metal work...
working on rebuilding the b-pillar area around the drivers side fuel tank. i shortened the fuel fill and vent hose and remounted the fuel fill housing/cap. built a steel housing for it and will be tacking it on today along with sheet to box in the lower b-pillar area surrounding the drivers side fuel tank...

I love this picture! But I keep using my cursor to trace out little triangles off of the bends.Little shark tooth shapes of flat stock to project in front of the lower a-arms. The bottom chord of the triangle would be parallel with the ground and above the lowest part of the horizontal tube bottom in the middle.
about to start the passenger side which is simliar... no fuel filler obviously... but i do need to house what is left of the emissions charcoal canister and the passenger tank vent..
tomorrow i plan to prep the floorboards, trans tunnel and accessible firewall for redneck lizard skin coating. i bought 'vessel grey.' seemed appropriate.

thanks! i should be out there frequently around the holidays. its kinda slow at work so i am taking some half days to get things knocked out... 2018 season is coming QUICK.
redneck lizard skin coating in progress... naturally.. its had a hiccup. the schutz texture spray gun i ordered off ebay was lacking a siphon pipe, rendering it useless.. so, i am rolling the concoction on .
i am going with a ratio of almost 2 parts paint to 1 part micro-bubbles. it gets thick like pancake batter.
of course i prepped to spray... so,... lots of now unnecessary masking off.
1st coat:

yep. supposedly, thats basically what makes lizard skin product efficient. lizard skin is expensive, the microballoons/bubbles were ~$15.
Im looking forward to hearing how this works. Can you also post pictures of the texture/all the details/etc? Im planning on going carpetless on the autocross car, but want some sound deadening and heat resistance. This sounds like it'll be perfect.
so i have no idea how well this concoction is going to actually perform... but here is a short video of what it looks like and some close up pictures. i am happy with how it came out. currently i am in teh process of reinstalling the all the 'interior' stuff.
now that i am done painting, i sorted through some more of the interior wiring. trying to secure odds and ends for the last time.
i am going to relocate the IGN switch the trans tunnel just forward of the shifter. the guage cluster is going go inbetween the electrical stuff in front of the passenger and the steering column housing. i plan on running a sheet of aluminum from where the dash board was to the top of the roll cage cross bar that connects the A-pillar.
but that stuff is going to wait till mid-jan when i buy aluminum.
i am going to jump into the suspension + brakes + fluids bc i now have all the parts i need to get on with it.
i bought mid-range rotors, hawk HPS+ pads and a set of lowering bolts from XII performance (owned by an autocross buddy). i got SS flex brake lines as a gift. i am home-brewing a camber kit. ordered M10x1.5 bolts that will become studs to allow for shimming the front upper control arms. idea will be to have a street shim set and an autox shim set. that latter consisting of virtually no shims... i will fix the lower control arm cam bolts in the outer most position up front.
so, hopefully in a week or so, the car will be lower, have a lot more camber, fresh brakes, fresh brake, diff and trans fluid. hopefully by the time its time to put the car back on the ground i will also have bought a handful more 17x11 ZR1 repos (buying them from a local vette-club autocrosser) to mount the 315s on...
hope to be back on the ground running by 13 jan. that would give me a couple weeks to drive it a bit and possibly fashion some weather protection for the electronics and engine before its initial autox.

thats what i have heard... bought a used set off facebook for $100... naturally 1 of the 4 was shot... so TBD.. probably wont pursue better shocks till i see how it handles, then that may drive a spring change... (to coil overs)
