Finally. Finally got back out for a track day. I ran FIRM's short course last friday. 155+ laps.

This was the first time back on track with chassis number 2. So, this was the first time stressing the revised cooling system. The first time braking routinely from 100+ mph without ABS. Cooling was fine. Braking, not so much.

Overall it was a great day. i didnt do any wrenching. just driving!

My fastest lap was 41.3sec. For comparison the previous FIRM track attack winner was there in his C8Z06 on Hooiser track day tires ran a 38.9sec lap. So a bit more than 2secs behind him running on my autocross tires from a few years ago! I will take those results!

I ran 49 laps in the 41.x second range, nearly 1/3 of my time on track!  i ran another 43 laps in the 42.x second range.

40.x second laps would surely have been posted if it were not for my errant adjustments of the rear brake proportioning valve.  I can reach from the drivers seat, but i cannot see the label. So, i was adding more rear brake all day when i was trying to reduce rear brake. Dammit man!  Needless to say, the tired tires and brake adjustments made braking into the hairpin and T1 very entertaining. Coming out of the hairpin was entertaining too on the skinny lil 275s. i was generally able to let it hang out a bit and let it catch. But that was definitely not the case 155 times.

I put together a video of the pucker factor moments...

And a video of laps were i was on it!

plotted speed v time on my best lap from last week.  Track Addict still looks for FIRM's old finish line, hence the turn numbers do not fall in line with the axis.

i am pretty pleased with the looks of the slopes. T1 flows into T2, where you kinda have to gradually build speed, so the open valley at T1 isnt as detrimental as it appears.

Me tapping brakes to early (intentionally) to give the car a chance to settle out before flying round T5 is evident too...  Its a sketchy turn if you arent familiar with FIRM.. bout 45deg, slightly off camber, tree line in sight and it should be taken at interstate speeds.
