My two year old daughter loves those little strings of decorative LEDs that you see that use three AA batteries to power them. And she likes to have them on when she falls asleep. I didn't much like how that used batteries. So I bought a cheap cell phone charger, pried it open, found the 0 and 5 volt wires, and soldered them to the battery terminals. No more changing batteries - and it still works as a phone charger too.

Yep, I was trying to find the cheapest and laziest way to make that string of LEDs plug into a socket while keeping the build basically safe.

Would be fun to make up something like this to light up tent with a "porta power" phone charger.

String of lights and a usb plug. Maybe a switch in between.
