Guess who is out and about again, finally.
Still having a couple of bangs and clunks from the rebuilt rear suspension, some fine tuning in this area to be done.
Also has a sticking throttle cable, I have to add another return spring and remove the obstruction to make it safer to drive.
But it is a fun car
I now have sounds, nice clean crisp sounds that do not come from the exhaust.
Jensen VM9115 dvd, cd, ipod, 8" American Bass sub, 5 1/4" Kenwood Excellon, 7 Kenwood Excellon, MRX V70 Apline 5 channel amp.
This set up has really clean music, not a lot of bass but it's a small car and I am old.
Changing out the water temp gauge which was faulty, adding the sender for the oil temp, swapping the oil pressure sender, and installing a fuel and volt gauge.
I am also swapping in a new MAF in the hope of sorting the engine falling on its face from time to time.
Checking out the MAF situation I found that the air filter/maf unit, has no sensor in it, none at all... weird
So I obtained a new one, but now the maf is a separate unit to the air filter, now I need different connectors and mounting points, parts sourced and en route, sigh.
Then my lower hose ruptures, I find that the hoses are connected using field tile connectors, really, who does that. Now I have new silicone hoses throughout the engine bay.
Stupid stuff.
The replacement MAF seems to have fixed the dead spot problem, thanks for the heads up those who responded.
I am out and about in Rexy today, taking Mrs Aussie out to eat and we are cruising for trouble.. well as much trouble as old fat dudes get into.
Found and fixed a vacuum leak yesterday, definitely helped settle the engine down.
I am still having some rear suspension issues, it is simply not enough spring and I am regularly polishing the side of the tire on the fender.
I am thinking of going with coil overs, For years this was not an option but I just discovered these and they should do what I need. There are very few stock location spring options and I believe my rear Tokicos are about shot.

Planning on a 325lb spring.
Can't you just do the RE-Speed stuff? http://www.re-speed.com/index.php/catalogue/79-85-mazda-rx-7/suspension-system/street-shocks-and-springs
ReSpeed was sold several years ago, now they are basically gone, they do not answer phones, do not send product, do not respond to questions on RX7club, so I won't spend that kind of money on a chance.
Shame because they used to be awesome, custom bent my front anti sway bar for me, then added it to their product list.
The above listing answered my questions within 12 hours.
Not the best shocks in the world but the car is for street and touring event use so it should be fine.
I just need height and rate adjustability
Plus adding in the cost of new shocks the pricing is not that far off, and I gain the advantages of 2.5" springs (length and rate)
It was a, long gone, Mikuni 44. Dialled in by a friend on a bench, ran perfect, without flat spot, from day one.
I keep towing with the idea about running two of those as a side draft...
I really like my mikuni, barely needs any attention.
Stitched up the rear end mods, re routed the throttle cable and swapped out a leaking caliper.
Then drove the snot out of it for a nice little while, it was good to be behind the wheel again.
It was a very conservative trip.
